G35x front axle question

Started off by just changing my struts when I noticed the passenger side inside CV boot was toast and the joint is bad. Is there anything special that I need to know about before I remove the axle? Is it bolted on or will it just slide out? Also what size is the axle nut? I have a 1 1/4 inch socket that seems to fit but what is it in metrics? I am thinking it might be a 32?
Thank you

The passenger side isn't bolted in. You can pry it out. There is a good diy on here somewhere. I used it a couple years ago to do mine. Search and you'll find it.

Yeah there's an internal snap ring that pops out when you apply enough pressure to the CV axle, personally I use a little pry bar and a deadblow mallet. It doesn't take much to get them to pop out I'm sure you can look up a youtube video on it.

36mm socket for the axle nut. I replaced mine with cheap o ebay units and the driver side didn't fit until I used an angle grinder to clearance the bolt head area. Passenger side fit great. Get what you pay for I guess.

IIRC the axle nut is torqued to something like 177 lb/ft and can be a pain to get off. I used a breaker bar with part of a jack handle on it to give it more force. I had to stand on the damn thing to get the nut free the first time I took off my half shafts.

Check out raxles.com. I haven't used them personally, however, I've heard great reviews on some other sites. They're remanufactured OEM parts by people here in the US for like 10-20 years and not some Chinese cheap part.
