Swapping coupe seats to a sedan - ‘05 6MT Chicagoland area

Hello all, I recently picked up a set of V35 coupe seats to replace my torn sedan seats, I see a few old threads from years back- picture links all broken and whatnot. I’m kind of lost as to what to do. Has anyone done this recently with a good write up? Alternatively if anyone in the Chicagoland area who’s done the swap themselves would want to tackle this, please let me know. Thanks

I don't think there's a thread left on here that has a comprehensive DIY for swapping seats with pics. I ventured down that road a long time ago and finally gave up and moved on to another mod. Obviously the seat swap starts simply. Take out the 4 bolts that hold the front seats in, unplug a few harnesses, remove the sedan seats then the coupe seats will bolt right up.

Then it gets tricky. There are different years to deal with obviously then you have functions like heated or not, memory or not etc. to take in consideration if you want all the functions of the seats you took out to work on the new seats. Some years with the same options are a drop in and plug it up process. BUT, for anything else you have to do a lot of re-wiring, plug swaps and the like. Your best bet IMHO is to find a member who's done the swap and is still active on the forum and PM with questions. GL and let us know how this project turns out. The peeps that have done the swap love the coupe seats..........

So if the seats are the same year and have the same functions then coupe seats should be a direct switch to a sedan?

Well dang. I bought an 05 G35 sedan for m son from my brother in law and the front seats are rough. A friend has a 05 coupe and blew his engine and was going to let me salvage parts before he parted it out. I was hoping it would be an easy swap of the seats. Hopefully it will work.

In most cases, the heated seat plug and the yellow airbag will almost always fit connector wise.

The problem lies with the Power part. It should almost never fit. Coupes have a feature for the seat to fold quickly for people to get into the back. And also some have power memory seats. You need to find the constant 12v power supply on the car harness and find which is for the plug.

I attempted this a while ago and got the passenger seat to work after an hour. But was never able to get my driver seat working so i just pulled the coupe seats out. I would love to have the coupes seats working but just no time or energy anymore to try.
