03 5AT Engine/Tranny ECU & Tranny Electrical Connector Issues Need Help Please
apologies if that was confusing.
so I would need to buy a 2005 valve body w/ tcm and toss it into the 2003 tranny that is in my car. Correct?
thanks!
Ok so i recently bought a 2004 nissan 350z, my dream car and ive worked my *** off to save up money, and drove 7 hours to buy one that looked like a really good deal. Now the transmission is going out, so i went on marketplace and found a guy selling a "2004 nissan 350z/g35 transmission" i bought it, and dropped my transmission only to realize the new tranny that came off the g35 has 3 green connectors and my old transmission only has one. Help me please.
The 3 green harness was the older external TCM, the single harness is the newer internal TCM.
You can keep your existing TCM and valve body and put it in the donor transmission.

Thanks for all the info above!
This may come to the same answer as above, but I just want to make sure. I have a 2003 sedan with rod knock. I drove it all but a mile home from when I bought it. Beside the obvious noise of the cranks rattling, the 5AT was not shifting properly. It would build in RPM's but not shift, I'd let off the gas and then it would shift. Based on the 220k on the odometer, I'm assuming TCM could be cooked, especially if the car was overheated and flushed coolant into my trans. I purchased a donor 2004 Coupe, with fairly low mileage, but when pulling the old motor out I realized the ECU plug-ins are different. From what I understand I can use the old ECU and harness as well as TCM and Valve Body. My concern is that my old TCM may no longer be any good. My question is if I use my new ECU, harness, and trans, what issues will I run into? Thanks!

I would start by keeping the existing transmission and just swapping in a good engine. From what you are describing it sounds like the transmission is just low on fluid and causing erratic shifting, drain out the fluid, you should have about 4.5 quarts come out, if it's less then that's probably your issue.
As for swapping tranny, if you do then start by keeping the existing valve body and TCM. You're going to basically rewire the car if you want to swap over to the internal design TCM and newer ECM.
