AC noise coming from 2005 G35 sedan

I've seen a couple of old threads regarding this issue but haven't seen anything that says what it could be. The sound only occurs when the AC is on, and it stops as soon as I turn it off. It's just a loud "whirring" sound, hard to describe but it sounds like the engine is struggling but I don't experience a drop in acceleration/power nor is there an issue with the AC blowing into the car. It's just a bit concerning because it seems to have gotten louder over time.

Have there been any new developments with this issue?

Are you sure you're not just hearing the fans, they can be loud AF. And I can feel the engine kind of "stutter" when the second fan comes on. By far the noisiest A/C system in any car I've ever owned.

The fans push way more air than the ones in my Accord. Definitely louder too. But it also cools my car down a lot faster than the Honda so there's that.

I wonder if that's what it could be then. I did recently notice that it overheats when it sits for too long without moving, so I wonder if the fans or motors are going bad and that noise is just a by-product of it's pending failure. It's always made the noise, but it seems like it's gotten worse over time. I'd much rather the fans be the issue than any of the AC components. Thanks for the input!

No worries, we replaced the radiator 2 years ago with about 130K miles then the fan assembly last year with around 138K. Both times the car would run fine then start to overheat while sitting still with the engine running. Fortunately both repairs are relatively inexpensive and easy DIY's. Not sure why but our G has never had an issue with air pockets after working on the cooling system.
