Does your state use a front license plate? If not why did they put it on to begin with?

Thumbs up plate braket and da law

If your state requires a front plate the dealer MUST mount it. However, your car came with a color matched filler plate (they ALL do) to be put in if your state allows. You had the right to get that, or ANOTHER one, at N/C. Most dealers just **** can them when prepping is done and can easily get you another. If you decide to remove your plate, on your own, you pay the freight if you get popped bigboy....I did it a long time ago, but you ain't me Cool? JBX

Thumbs up

My state requires a front license plate, but my dealer was fine with leaving the bumper undrilled and the front license plate unmounted. I'm planning to install a Stillen front license plate bracket when it becomes available for the '05 sedan (in a few more weeks, according to Stillen).

The dealer sales rep was the one who actually told that there were alternatives to drilling the bumper. I wasn't even thinking about the issue at the time.

BTW, I don't think my '05 sedan came with a filler plate for the front license plate bracket. The '05 sedan seems to have a different bumper design, with a tow-hook adapter similar to the coupe's.

There is a small filler plate covering the tow-hook adapter, but it's much smaller than the large rectangular filler plate for the front license plate that I saw in an '04 loaner.

There never has been any "drilling' needed....they come pre-threaded with a bracket. I'll find out what your options are for sure on Monday and post it for everybody,,cool? JBX

My 05 came with a front plate bracket. Its still in its plastic bag and in my truck. I only looked at it real quick, but for some reason, I remember it did require drilling into the bumper, like a bracket that's mounted to the front of the bumper.

I remember reading some posts about those plugs that fit into holes drilled into your bumper for front plates.. from what I recall, they didnt look that bad..

My 05 came with no license plate frame and the dealer put it on by drilling 2 holes in the bumper and now feel that i shudn't have done it, although the law requires putting it on but lot of people dont do it

If i take off the liecense plates -- how do i block the 2 holes -- is there any rubber screws that can be fitted and colour matched

Since the '05 sedans have the old coupe front end, you can use the same "tow hook" adapter to place your licence plate frame as the Zs and G35 coupes do, and thereby avoid the dreaded drill holes.

Thanks for all your reply - I do have the license plate plug - but the dealer still drilled 2 little holes in my front bumper to support the license plate holder. I'm pretty screwed - anyways - it's the law. I would had taken it off if there were no holes to fill.
