Experience driving a lowered g in the snow?

im debating whether to drive my g sedan this winter with snow tires and a lowered suspension because I currently don’t have my stock suspension.Any people have any horrific experiences driving in the snow with snow tires and coilovers/bags? Should I just buy a 900 rusted out beater car for winter and store my g in the garage? I really love driving my g everyday but I’m not sure if I should drive it in the snow especially with all the ugly roads we have in Chicago.

Get a 900 beater and put snow tires on it. Or by spring your g will be your 900 beater, if you're lucky.

Yes but he's looking to dd a lowered g in Chicago snow, "with all these ugly roads"
g might move fine thru snow but what about all the other cars on the road?
what about hitting the big chunks of ice that fall out of peoples wheel wells?
i'm not saying it can't be done but theres high risk of damage in doing it.

6 speed G35 sedan
I have an Accord, I drive that if we get snow. Even with traction control and limited slip on my G35, the Accord does better on snowy roads. So why risk it?

If your car is still nice and shiny, don't drive it in the winter. At this point the nice cars should be preserved IMO.

If your car is already beaten up, the G does fine as long as you know how to drive in the snow. I love driving my rusted out beater G in the winter simply because I get to practice my drifting skills at every empty intersection. Before winter jack up your car and cover everything in the underside, inside the wheel wells, every hole you can get access to with a few cans of Fluid Film, and you should be able to keep rust to a minimum.

Obviously lowering it reduces the depth of snow you can drive through.

Other than the reduced ground clearance, I don't see the problem. My G was a beast in the snow even deeper than it's ground clearance.

The best way to drive the G in the snow.

Drive it into the garage.

Then buy a cheap Chevy/GMC truck with 4WD.

If you absolutely MUST drive the G in the snow then remember this, TIRES ARE EVERYTHING but you're still going to get stuck in more than 6" of snow. For the cost of new snow tires you can probably pick up some old 4x4 beater that won't get stuck in the snow.

I use the same number. Anything over 6" of snow I run my snow chains. Obviously can't go very far from home.

I’m lowered and In chicago. DD going on 8 years and 15k miles on the Megan Coilovers, no problems other than replacing one CV Boot. Handles great in snow but I do have the x AWD.

yes I made up my mind to get a beater 🤕 first day of snow in Chicago today and was a terrible experience driving down the street, every little ball of icy snow got stuck under my car and scraped all along the road.My front bumper liner also came off and was dragging along with the snow lol it made my heart sink after hearing and the bangs and thumps my g was taking 😢 lol

Don't do it. Either get a beater or rent a car through a service like ZipCar - to conduct your errands. Trust me on this. Lowered Gs + Light Snow + Ice Film = No Go Zone.

Especially! If you have already done your basic performance modifications. Seriously! Sign-Up with Zip-Car or another Mobile App Service.

My current setup is listed below for my suspension & wheel setup:

- Stillen Struts
- Tien Flex Z Coilovers
- Megan Racing Control Arms
- Stillen Adjustable Sway Bars
- Megan Racing Arm Bushings

BF Goodrich GForce Comp A/S 2 Tires
225/45/18 & 255/45/18
