Exclamation Drrrraaaaging

Hello Guys, well got the car up to 147 on open salt flat... well that's my story and im sticking to it. All went well but I did notice the rear license plate was all bent out... like someone trying to pull from the bottom corners. Thinking this must be airflow from under the vehicle dragging on the plates. Any one else here experience this issue? and if so how did you solve it?

Thanks in advance.

Damn.

Use tape on the bottom of your license if you plan to do top speed runs? Or just take it off completely since you're on "open salt flats"
You can also use tape on all of the panel gaps and whatnot, that apparently reduces drag enough to increase your top speed a bit.

I was thinking more or less the drag was coming from behind the car, just not sure where the air is coming from, is it from under the car? or from the top. it has to be allot of air flow to bend the plate out the way it did. the tape trick sounds like it would certainly help along the door door seams.

You could do an "ode to a redneck mod" as I did. No rednecks were hurt during the making of my ultra-cheesy yet seemingly effective "parachute bumper delete" modification. I was planning on making it out of abs after this prototype made from cardboard, hvac insulation, hvac tape and some gorilla tape but got discouraged at the time. Maybe this winter I'll have the patience. It's been driven in the rain many times and is still in great shape.
The air current hits the upside down ramp created by the hvac insulation in pic 1. I taped all the seams that were open to current coming from the front as well. I did a test and picked up 1 mph and around 2/10th's with this. The FX also feels more stable than it did prior to this mod at high speed.
There's more on my thread towards the bottom of this page; https://www.infinitiscene.com/thread....230572/page-8
OP, if you're gonna go as fast as you can, you're going want to do some stupid **** like this and I doubt drilling some holes as some have done is going to do much. The guy with the most recent fastest Z just pulls the bumper off.
Edit; The guy with the most recent fastest "naturally aspirated" Z that is.

Runway at a secondary airport in town. Normally it's just smaller craft and all the incoming UPS/FEDEX air freight but I know a couple guys who work there so I can still use it.

I don't know exactly how fast, 153-155ish, felt it hit either the rev limiter or a speed governor but I wasn't really looking at the speedometer tbh, I had just bought the G and wanted to make sure it didn't have any wierd shimmy at high speeds and that the brakes didn't shudder at high speeds.

It used to be the main airport in town but then they built the BIG airport, the longest strip is 1.5 miles and it's WIDE like a 4 lane highway, good memories of drinking my teenage years away in the tower with highschool buddies and hanging out getting drunk with random pilots that showed up in the middle of the night.
