firming up stock '03.5 suspension
Love my 03.5 BSsedan/premium/auto w/15000miles, but sometimes I will bottom out over road humps (not speed bumps) and would like to firm up ride. Can the shocks be adjusted/dialed firmer? What are the differences between base & sport suspensions? Why does exhaust pipe seem to be so much lower than anything else when you look under from rear, seems it could fit higher, this may be what I bottom out on? Feed back appreciated! SAILOR
The shocks cannot be adjusted, but more on that sort of thing in a bit. The differance between the sport and non sport is this. The non sport uses 10% softer spring rates and shocks that are equally softer (I think the non sport shocks are actually softer then sport shocks by more then 10%, but I don't own a shock dyno).
Non sport spring rates are 283/308
Sport spring rates are 314/342
From when I still had my oem exhaust I do seem to recall that the muffler pipe off the mid pipe was indeed the lowest point on the sedan clearance wise. If it's what is hitting the ground, you will plainly see scrapes.
Your best bet to firm up the car are to find someone selling a sport suspension. A better solution would be to just buy the springs off the sport suspension and then invest in Tokico D-spec shocks for around $500 shipped, they are double adjustable and much superior to any oem G or Z shock. These are choices that do not lower the car. Aftermarket springs ment for the G are ment to work with the car's oem shocks, more so then they are designed to offer performance increases, though you are starting with a softer suspension to begin with.
