What is the name of the tool used to unscrew the rear license plate bracket on a 2006 G35 Sedan? The screw top has a X shape.

Lol its not a Phillips head screw. Will take a pic and upload. My license plate screws are just spinning with the nut bolt and I have been unsuccessful trying to remove them with a pliers. At this point I am trying to take the bracket off. The screw I am speaking about is holding the bracket..

That's a captive nut. The screw comes in from behind the bumper. You have to take the bumper off to take the bracket off.

Here is the picture. It is the same screw like in the picture you posted above. Thanks for letting me know what type nut it is. Looks like I am going to have to try and get those license plate screws off by other means because I do not really want to take the bumper off right now.

Just bought this vehicle and I need to add my tags. The seller and I had to cut the previous tags off. At the time I thought the bracket could be removed and then I would just replace it lol. I am going to try to dremel it or drill it as you suggested. Thanks.

But but but... you'll want this bracket in place to mount your new plates, no? It's these two screw you want to remove:

Yes I am going to try dremel or drill the license plate screws. I longer have intention of messing with the license plate brackets.
