Exhaust issues
So I have a dilemma here. I have motordyne art pipes and a motordyne midback. I had that on with the stock y pipe and it was decently loud but it had a bit of rasp at 3k. My problem is I bought a Megan y pipe temporarily so that I could save up for the Xyz pipe but it sounds a lot quieter and doesn’t have the nice tone it had before. Is it normal for any y pipe to quiet an exhaust down or is it because I didn’t get the Xyz pipe?

It's almost impossible to predict what will happen when you mix/match exhaust pieces. It's also incredibly difficult to try to theorize fluid dynamics outside of complicated simulation software.
The "trial and error" method is what a lot of folks rely on with exhaust modifications, some folks prefer the "tried and true" method as well.
Math is hard.

Living in SoCal why aren't you aware of the 2019 sound regulations? MODIFIED EXHAUST $1000 EACH STOP Your lack of cats alone will put you above the sound regulations! Had you gone with HFC's and a "True dual exhaust" that would have given you good performance and kept you from getting a violation!
