No new cats no problem. If you are manual it's worth it for the ARC features alone. That launch control is so much fun.

You will never experience any significant gains from bolt-ons alone on these cars.. never. The gains come with the tune. These are true "tuner cars" in the sense that you can get significant power upgrades (over 50hp easy) with some bolt ons and a tune.

my dollar g, 05 Rev up with sport package
I've been told by a very reputable tuner that these cars run lean from the factory, so there is a chance you could be running too lean. other than that, you should get a tune once you are done with your bolt ons.

Urban is spot on. The only way to get significant power upgrades on a G is by forced induction. This route will cost close to or upwards of 5 figures to do properly if a shop installs them, less if someone can DIY. On our 05 sedan 5AT we added: NWP 75mmm throttle body, R2C intake, Motordyne 5/16" spacer, MD ART pipes, MD XYZ Y-pipe with the resonated module, MD resonated mid-pipe, MD sedan VQ exhaust (the prototype ) and Osiris installed by UpRev themselves at their Austin headquarters. The gains over stock? 42whp/39 tq. The cost to pay for everything involved if new, over $3000. Not worth it in my opinion to get a 42hp gain. By comparison I'm picking up a Lincoln MKS Ecoboost today with the 3.5L twin turbo that's factory rated at 355HP and for $700 an e-tune from Livernois or Stage 3 Motorsports and a CAI produces gains of up to 70-80hp and corresponding tq gains. Ford does a great job of building their motors for the enthusiast crowd that craves more power. Of course I have the tune/CAI on the way and when installed will outrun my dead and gone stock 06 GTO with the LS2, 0-60 and quarter mile. The Ecoboost motor gets stronger as the RPMs rise and by the end of the 1/4 mile it's pulling faster and faster.

6 speed G35 sedan
42/39 gains are still very noticeable, should be a good half second (maybe a bit more) to 60 and the quarter mile. Just the tune on mine (didn't baseline it stock) was 22/19 and I definitely noticed it especially because the torque gains were everywhere. But true, these aren't cheap cars to mod especially when you use high quality parts like Motordyne. And a tune isn't going to get the gains that they do on turbo/supercharged cars. Most people here are like me now, bought the car used and for not very much. Between purchase price and mods, I've got about $7500 into my car total. And for something that is multiple car lengths quicker than a 14.1 @ 99 mph (actual time slips) Q50 3.7, that's not bad.

If I want serious power, I'll just do an LS swap.

NA power is expensive period. Can't beat adding 100+ WHP with 7-8psi on a stock VQ for the money. The only way to add that much HP cheap would be NOS and that's not considered a everyday driver power adder.
