G35 vs 330i sport.
G35 vs 330i sport.
Which one would win in a race a G35 or the 330i sport. It suppose to come with like that extra 12 more hp than the standard 330 and the 6spd system thats on the M3. Not fully sure but I would like to know who would win.
Re: G35 vs 330i sport.
G35 M6 will kill it.
i own the M3 and G35, i feel that M3 with sports mode off is the same as the G35 at the 0-6000RPM range. once past 6000RPM, the M3 is obviously much faster. but then, the G35 have already reach it's redline...
the 330 is the same story, just that it's a tad slower in the 0-6000RPM range.

The 325 has 184hp/175lb-ft.
The 330 has 225hp/214lb-ft.
The 330 Performance Package has 235hp/222lb-ft.
The 6-speed manual transmission is now standard on all 2004 3-series cars, I believe.
These cars all have pretty flat torque curves. Strong acceleration at any speed. Good gear ratios. Excellent suspensions.

The thread isn't about the M3, it's about the 330i.
The M3 is in a whole different ballgame. Infiniti will have to bring over the GT-R if they want to play in that field.

Re: G35 vs 330i sport.
Another thing to note is that the 6spd in the new 330's does not change the ratio of the first five gears it only adds a sixth. On the 330i ZHP (that's the performance package), the differantial has a larger ratio for better acceleration. The sixth gear is there for decent highway mileage.
I would think that a 6MT vs a 330i ZHP would be a driver's race.

My nephew who lives in DC bought a 330i instead of a G inspite of me recommending the G.Last weekend he was trying to unlock his car at a shopping mall. When the remote didn't work he tried the key to no avail.Security showed up and cuffed him.He had tried to open the wrong car.Now he regrets buying the BMW when there are so many around.

Is the straight 6 in the M3 diff from the 330 series? If not then can the G motors get to that HP without blowing up the motor and the wallet in theory?
If you always do what you always did you will always get what you always got.

Re: G35 vs 330i sport.
The M3's engine is bigger than the 330's.. 3.2L instead of 3.0L.
Our engine is within 2lb-ft of the torque produced by the M3, but the M3's peak hp is at 7900rpm, well above our redline. I imagine if you balance and tune your VQ35 and put in some heavy-duty forged parts so that you can run it past 8000rpm safely, you could get similar numbers. It's probably cheaper to go to forced induction, though, at that point. (Just a guess... I could be wrong on the cheaper part.)

G35 engine hp increases
It will be pretty easy to raise the VQ's output past stock. The engine is starved for air. However, you will run into a road block at 288 crank hp due to the stock injectors. To fix this you will probably need injectors (440cc or larger), stand alone fuel manage (like Greddy e-Manage), and ?bigger fuel pump?. Not sure about the fuel pump but a R&D guy at RC injectors studied our system and our injectors will be at 80% duty cycle at 288 crank hp. You can just raise the pressure and send more fuel to the cylinders but i like my car putting just the right amount in each time.
but with headers, full exhaust and fuel system upgrades you WILL see ~315 crank horses (from personal experience). then with cams, port and polish, better intake manifold, high compression pistons, the best guesses so far are 20-40 or more hp increase. So...in the next year or so (after JWT learns to reprogram Nissan OBDII ECU's), it should be fairly easy to make the VQ35DE turn out at least 280 whp. Throw on a 70 shot of nitrous and as long as your tranny holds up you will run 12 second quarter miles, maybe lower.
Takes about 350 wheel hp in a 3200 lb car to run high elevens at sea level
