My 05' AWD was just fine with the turbo. Just put a transgo shift kit in first so it doesn't burn up your clutches. I was running 10-12psi for awhile and it still shifted very well.

LOL was right in the middle of writing my post and posted before I even noticed he was answering you.

O.P,
I would definitely listen to scambagsleeper and others who went FI on the 5AT.

As for what I originally wrote...

It all depends.
What's the condition of the drivetrain?

How many miles does the car have?
Are you the original owner, garaged it all these years and decided you want to turbo the car or did you buy the car used from someone else?

In either case, your best bet is to get a inspection done of the motor and trans before you do anything.
If you've done that and its all in good health, there's a good chance the trans can hold a low boost application before it gives out.

8lbs on the VQDE sounds like about 375-400whp.
IF you're going to do that AND the car is healthy, then I'd highly recommend a trans cooler along with Valve Body upgrade and your basic FI support mods even with your low boost application.

From researching previous threads you'll find several people who went FI on their 5AT and had no issues.
You'll also find a few horror stories.

Your mileage may vary but at the very least with the stuff above your 5AT may survive
