Any Sedans out there with the Tein CS setup?
Any Sedans out there with the Tein CS setup?
I was just down at Zcargarage and had the opportunity to ride in a customers g35 sedan. It was lowered on the Tein Flex w/EDFC and sways. The car handled great and was very flat through the turns, impressive i must say. However the overall ride was stiffer than what I would prefer.
As soon as I got back in my car, I have the Eibach prokits with stock non sport shocks I felt as if I was in a Caddy
. while its comfortable on the highway and around town, its not what i call a proper setup especially with the oem shocks.
I am thinking of going with the TEIN CS with the EDFC, I have searched and searched and it doesn't look like there are any sedans with this setup. I want to know how you percieve the ride to be. I want to know what you don't like, just as much as what you do like.
Are the just like the Tein Basics and drop the car a minimum of 1.6" in the front?
I'm wondering if I'll have to TOFTT.
Thanks
Sukhi

Well lets compare the two.
Tein CS has a spring rate of 392 front/rear.
TEIN Type CS damper was designed to give comfort to sophisticated drivers.
We adapted a hard rubber upper mount for noise proofing and mono-tube type shell case to heighten road holding.
* Improved ride comfort over original shock absorbers.
* A hard rubber upper mount is used for noise proofing.
* 16 levels of damping force adjustment (compression and rebound together).
* Ride height adjustable.
* A mono-tube design and increased shell case diameter allow for 30% more oil capacity,
as compared to OEM shock absorber, to handle the upsizing of wheel with lower profile tires.
* Available for overhaul.
Tein Basics:
The basics have a quite stiffer spring rate at 504 front/rear.
TEIN Type BASIC damper is for the driver that is seeking high performance with a reasonable price. The Basic damper MSRP starts at $750.00, which includes 4 springs and 4 shocks. Compared to the "sleeve type" coil over, the Type Basic has a more exclusive set up for a better balance of suspension travel and damping force.
* High performance and cost effective.
* Ride Height adjustable.
* New paint coating for rust prevention.
* Pillow ball mounts are optional (on certain applications).
* Exclusive design for USA vehicle specifications.
(only available for the U.S.A Market).
* Available for overhaul.
The CS was meant for a more comfortable ride where the shocks are valved less agressively. The Basics have a pretty stiff spring rate and the shocks are valved appropriately to handle that. Basically if you felt the CS was too stiff for your tastes then you don't want to get the Basics for sure. But the CS was made for better handling but without compromising comfort too much.

The reason why I asked if the CS was Like the basics was for only one reason and that was for the drop. I know that with the basics the front will automatically drop by 1.6" at the highest setting. I wasn't sure if this is also true for the CS. If so, then I will definately have to get some a-arms.
I'm leaning towards the CS, but if anyone actually has this setup on their sedan, please chime in...

Here's the specs for the Tein CS.
http://www.tein.com/csdamp.html
The CS for the sedan will automatically drop it 0.3 inches in the front and back. Not bad at all. You can go as far as -3.1 in the front and -1.7 in the rear. Teins recommended drop is -1.9 and -1.6 in the front and back respectively. Looks like the CS is the right product for you.
