Here is the picture of my new Chin Spoiler. This should answer all questions. Easy installation. Requires drilling of 4 holes. Take your time and measure twice. Looks great, paint matched perfectly. HIGHLY RECOMMEND !

socal-oc,

how exactly did you measure? you mean like using a tape measure and measuring the distance from bolt to bolt? The way I was going to do it was to hold it up to the front bumper and mark the spots to drill with like a dry erase or something..

socal,

G looks great.

A couple questions if you don't mind. How does the top of the chin spoiler attach to the factory bumper cover? Double stick tape? And how secure is the mounting scheme on the top of the chin spoiler? I understand the bottom is drilled and bolted.

Second, the right side battery cover, did you have to modify your G for it to fit? Did you have to fabricate any mounting points? Thanks for the info.

Take care

That looks great! Justin, any news on if this spoiler will work on my X with the extra opening in the bumper cover?

AMG35,

First Question:

The front chin spolier has 4 bolts type mounted on to itself. Nuts and rubber washers keep the front bumper on tight and secure. The chin spoiler has 2 bolts in the front and 2 on the sides. I was quite impressed with the chin spoiler, very well design. The kit comes with templates, the templates are guides, guides to help you where to drill the four holes. The chin spoiler fits like a glove. There are 2 doublesided tape that are located on the front , right below the air dams. Oh....I forgot, once you get the spolier on you will have to driill 4 more holes underneath the front bumper. It is designed to hold the bottom chin better. SO total of 8 holes to drill not 4.

Second question:

I also got the battery cover at www.grubbsperformance.com as RichK mentioned. The battery cover was already modified by www.grubbsperformance.com. Modified as in they cut and shaved the side that is closest to the engine. I had to make 2 holes on the wall that separates the engine and brake oil. Then snap on the plastic stubs to the cover in place. The procedure took about 30 mintues. Take our time when drilling. Measure twice , drill once.

I got alot of comments on my front chin spoiler. I highly recommend getting it.

Thanks

socal

Oh-dawg,

Sorry to miss your quesiton.

The chin spoiler kit comes with a template. The template is a 8 x 11 paper, you will have to cut the templates out ( 3 templates - A ,B, and C). The instructions will tell you where the 3 templates will be placed. Pretty much on the front near the air dam, the side of the bumper, and on the side near the tires.

Just an FYI, make copies of the template just in case you accidently mess up during the cut out of the template.

The templates were dead on and I did not have any problems.

Thanks

Socal

Like Socal said, Grubbs modifies the cover to fit pretty good. I did need to drill one hole where the cover meets the cowl. I was going to drill 2 more holes like socal did in the partition which separates the the ABS area from the engine, but I decided against it. I just didn't want to drill any holes in metal. I may drill later, however. When you get the cover, it is pretty self explanatory on what needs to be done. It does finish the under hood area well. My only "gripe" is that the cover says "battery" on it. Still looks better than no cover though.

Can you post a far-away shot of the car with the front lip? It's hard to tell how it will look with the flow of the car in the close-up pictures. Thanks.

RickH,

I agree with you ! I wished it did not say battery on the cover.

But at least it will keep the brake fluids and steering wheel fluid compartment clean from dust. Also it makes the engine look nice and clean.

At least it's rain. The day I picked up my new G it was snowing. I was a bit nervous driving my new car home in a snowstorm, but the X handled it perfectly. Never felt "loose". It snowed a few times after that too. After a week, I was finally able to wash it. Keepin' it clean now.
