2004 G35 Coupes; When lights burn out, there are no alerts..
Infiniti quoted me $7,000 for new factory headlights, any questions?
Here is the question about G35 Coupe taillights: How do you know if the tail light burns out?
I can see the brake light even with all the illegal lighting on the road but not the running light as much.

$7000?????

There are no indications if one of your lights go out. The headlights should be easy to tell. The brake light, just use a piece of stick to keep the brake pedal pressed while u go to the back and look at the lights.

When the lamp in the headlight burns out you don't replace the entire headlight assembly, you ONLY replace the component that failed.
$7k would be both headlight assembly, plus both ballasts, plus an extra 20 hours of the techs just ****ing off and joyriding your car.
I'm pretty sure they quoted you seven HUNDRED dollars which is still exorbitant.
First thing you need to do is start by swapping the lamps from one side to the other to see if it's just a bad lamp, that's a $75 fix, if that lamp does NOT work on the other side (the side that's currently working) then you know it's just a bad lamp.
If the lamp DOES work on the other side then it's probably the ballast, swap ballasts and see if it works on the other side.
If both the lamp AND the ballasts work on the other side then it's an electrical issue, the lights are all separately fused in the IPDM, low left, low right, high left, high right.
I'm not aware of any cars that tell you if the headlights are burned out? It's super obvious as soon as the sun goes down so...
As for checking your taillights, either have a second person hop in the car and step on the brake pedal or go back up next to a wall, your neighbors garage, etc and hit the brake pedal. Now turn your head and look at the light on that wall, does it look even on both sides? GOOD!

Ok tail lights is pretty common for vehicles that use standard incandescent lamps since the computer can just watch the resistance on the circuits. HID lighting or LED lighting it's completely different though since everything runs through a ballast.
