real leather?

hey guys after finding this interesting piece of info I would like to know if our rear seats is real leather or vinyl? Don't just say it's leather unless you have proof, you might be surprised.

Question

Huh ? I heard it's genuine foreskin......That's why it seems to fit more tightly when it's cold out . Come on ...I gotta hear the obvious punchline? JBX

What interesting piece of info? What are you basing this question on?

I know my seats are leather, the passenger headrest still has the brand on it.

No you think your seats are leather. I was reading some interesting stuff about the Nissan titan I just traded. It was the crewcab LE 4X4 model. Fully loaded I might add with seat memory and heated seats. The whole nine yard. Well this automobile magazine did their one year long term test of a similar model, and stated that the rear seats were'nt leather but instead a very good imitation vinyl. Seeing that the G is the bottom of the infiniti model and it being a Nissan product. I was just wondering if it's the same case. I imagine an upholstery shop can tell you the real deal.

Dude,

I was joking.. 'BRAND' - get it? Like 'cattle brand' not 'name brand.'

Leather seating surfaces, with vinyl on the sides of the seats and seatbacks. Nissan got sued in the mid-80's for claiming the seats on the 300ZX were leather, when in fact only the seating surfaces were. Since then, they only claim the seating surfaces are leather.

Well they must not have learned from it because the Titan doesn't have leather in the rear.

They learned. They say the truck has leather-appointed seats. They don't say the seats are all-leather and they don't say all the seats are leather.

Regarding your original comment about leather seats is the G35. They're there - woo whoo!!!

A leather/vinyl combo is probably more common than you might think. Most automakers do not use leather exclusively in their interiors (unless you're talking Mercedes, BMW, Jaguar, etc). Even at that, BMW's standard seating surface is leatherette (vinyl), at least in the 3-series.

I wish I could find the article / post (can't remember which) regarding the same issue. It turns out that a full leather interior would cost several thousand dollars. I for one don't mind the combination in favor of keeping the car's price below $40,000.

Wish I could find that article...

Oh and by the way, the "lowest" option on a 3-series is "Alcantara + cloth."

Of course, I'm going to go read up on our '01 S-Type and see if it really is a full leather interior, or if its "leather appointed" since someone mentioned Jaguar earlier. ;-)
