$50 to 'clean & adjust' brakes?

I have my car in for 15k service (after 20 months and 12k miles) and during the brake inspection they said the pads and rotors were fine, but suggested a cleaning to remove dust from between the grooves in the pad (this can cause squeeky brakes?) and also to 'adjust' the brakes?
Now I never heard of such a thing, but called my uncle who has a small shop and works in parts department said it sounded quite odd, but he deals more with basic brake components.
Anybody else deal with this? I pick up the care tomorow, but at this point told them to skip this (can change my mind though).

I would question it myself. Cleaning rotors shouldn't take more than a squirt of cleaner. Disc brakes should adjust themselves as the pad wears down. Pulling the wheels off is a bit of labor but all that really shouldn't cost anything IMO. If there is nothing wrong with your car, I guess they have to charge you for something since time is money.
There really is no adjustment in disc brakes so not sure what they are talking about. About the cleaning the brake dust from the grooves in the pads, it wouldn't hurt to do it but, it's not necessary and for $50, definitely not worth it. Looks like they are just looking for something to do to make money.

Thanks for the responses, I checked with them again today and it was JUST for the cleaning (no adjustment). So, I'm sticking to what I originally told them and skip it. Maybe I'll have my uncle take a look when he puts on my coupe midpipe, as long as it's on the lift already...
Thanks again

In the day with asbestos brakes we used compressed air.
Probably not a good idea now (or then.)
