repaint piece or touch up?

Ok so I bought a G35 and they found a paint chip on it...they want to know if i want the piece repainted or touched up.
They said if its touched up you would still probably see a blimish.
But someone told me a repainted panel doesn't hold up as well and chips even easier.
Whats do you guys think?

the repainted panel may chip easier but i doubt it. Alot of it has to do with the quality of paint used, and what tempurature it is painted at and if it is baked or not, i would probably have the piece repainted because youll see the repaired spot very easily. I would tell them that you want it blended. Blending is where you paint over only the spot that it chiped at and reclearcoat the whole surface.

Huge mistake to get a panel repainted if you can avoid it. Plus they blend the color into adjacent panels. Just asking for major trouble if the job is not done right AND the color is not matched perfectly. Some metallic colors, esp. silver, look like a perfect match at one angle or in one type of lighting and you can see differences in other angles or lighting. I went to small claims court many yrs ago over a poor repainted panel and was told by a paint expert that the angle of the metal flakes is never completely duplicated during repaint. Although technolgy may have changed since I was told that 20 yrs ago, I would still avoid it if you can.

Blended Paint Job

I had a chip and scratch in my Emerald Mist (metallic green) sedan, and had the 'blended' repair performed just because I was concerned that no one could really match the factory paint job. I was really concerned, but all turned out well.

Maybe teh key is to use a really good pro shop who has done this a lot before?

I am confused, have you taken delivery of the car yet? If not I don't see why you should have to accept a flawed product that is being "repaired".

i did take delivery, but it was at night and there was alot i couldn't see, and i was way too excited. It was also too late for them to do the final detail so they told me to come back when it wasn't raining. A few days later when i did come back, i showed them a scratch and the chip. And they said they would take care of it, no problem.
The chip was on the back quarter panel...which, my guess is they can't remove, because i think its welded to the frame...i'm not sure though. Its a huge section of the car. I ended up teling them to repaint the area. Hopefully it comes back great. We shall see
