No I actually made the deal and they pulled it off the lot. I haven't "taken delivery" yet. Scheduled to do so on tues, after they install the rear spoiler on Monday. So, no there are no more miles, but I'm gettng ready to make the call to the dealer to say I want a "new one".

I might be ok with the 258 miles, but I'm spending alot of money and don't want the doubts that I already have. I want a silver w/ black, but I would almost rather have the black on black they have on the lot over the miles at this point.

I am concerned that if it takes ordering one from the factory, that I will not be able to get the 2.9% that is only guaranteed until the end of the month.

On a side note: I am giving up my 2nd and last Ford SHO for the G35. The SHO on-line community was strong and very willing to help each other out. Looks like the G35 has just a great a group of guys on this web site.

thanks again.

BTW - BOTH my test drives of the 258 mile car were without the sales guy. they literally just threw the keys to me and said enjoy!
I have silver with black leather. The black on black looks awesome when clean but it will be tough to keep it that way. I guess I would like lower mileage on my new car but would not turn down the car I want because it has a few hundred miles on it. a Sales person or sales mgr could have been using the car and possibly, it wa also a demo. Most adults driving a new car for test purposes don't beat the daylights out of it although they may get on it somewhat. Some dealerships don't let buyers take the car out by themselves but insist that a salesman be there also. So, it seems you have a decision to make that only you can make. Good luck.

Well, I could be wrong (and many of you think so) but if it was the car I wanted and a good deal, I would buy it. I see in another thread that most of you bought new with less than 20 miles on it.

I bought mine used with 39k miles on it - but I did get a good price! So I'm not one to talk.

I see nothing wrong with that. I don't think anyone else should either. You bought a used car. You paid substantially less than I did for my new one, so you're getting value for the miles that are it.

My issue is with plunking down a good hunk of money for a "new" car with triple-digit miles on it. An average dealer won't knock off much, if any, arguing that a car with 500 miles on it is still pretty new. Technically true, that, but I personally see a big drop-off in value between a $33K transaction for a new car with 10 miles on it and the same $33K transaction for a new car with 250 miles on it. It's like buying one of those floor-sample receivers at Best Buy: Yeah, it'll probably work okay and you saved a couple of bucks, but what's the fun buying something new that's not quite as new as it ought to be?

Then again I'm **** as someone pointed out earlier.

Eeaton, whatever you do, good luck!

What about the first few miles during shiipping? I would imagine our well respected longshoreman wouldn't be tempted rev up ours G. Actually I did heard stories about people racing cars from docks to the trucks because they want to give the truck line moving. I hope it's not true.

I would have no qualms about buying this car. if you can use it for leverage to either get an extended warranty or a break in the price for an extended warranty

I have made my decision

I have decided to purchase the Black on Black 6MT w/ Sunroof,Splash, & Rear Spoiler instead of the Silver on Black 258 mile car.

The Black one has 13 miles on it, and still is wrapped in all the factory plastic (and I get the same price as my original deal)

I REALLY wanted the silver, but I do love black though even as difficult as it will be to keep clean. I personally searched dealers within 300 miles of Cincinnati and could not find exactly what I wanted (Silver on Black 6MT with ONLY Sunroof, Splash & Spoiler). My dealer told me he checked everywhere he could including what units are "in transit" right now. I could order one from the factory and wait 3 to 6 months and roll the dice on whether the 2.9% would be available.

So I'm picking up it up tues instead of the "demo" car. Heck I have been driving Silver cars since 1993, I guess a little change could do me good

Thanks again to everyone for their opinions and advice. The silver might have been ok, but I'll feel better knowing how the critical first miles were put on. All I have to do now is be "good" for 1,200 miles.

Regards,

Hey, that's great! I haven't seen an '05 6MT sedan in black. Post some photos when you get a chance.

Um, enjoy that break-in period. Mine's a week old today and I've crossed the 130-mile mark. Just another 9 weeks or so to go at that pace before I can have fun. Hey, maybe buying a new car with 1200 miles on it isn't such a bad idea after all... Scratch everything I posted in this thread.

Yeah the thoughts of being good for 1,200 miles is depressing. I hope to have it broken in before the really warm weather hits. My currnet mileage run rate puts me at 45 days to hit 1,200 miles. Maybe if I start driving out of downtown for lunch everyday it will go faster...oh wait, I can't afford to eat lunch now

I'll shoot some pics as soon as the rear spoiler gets installed and then find someplace to post them.

thanks again to everyone.

I've had a bunch of silver ones too, so I made the big change to Diamond Graphite .

Good luck with your car-I'm sure you'll love it.

I don't know where you guys and girls shop, but I NEVER worked at any place that allowed potential customers to abuse cars on a test drive.....In fact, we only let them test the car that they were interested in purchasing. Of course I only worked at highline dealerships that weren't prone to getting immature drivers in but,..I guess things are different in other parts of the country... or at.... "Kid's are Us Infiniti"

i bet you 90% of the cars that get PDI'd (pre-delivery-insp) get beat the hell on by the tech's.. don't ever think they baby every car that comes by. i for one wouldn't worry about the miles. thats what the warranty is for.

Question

Just ordered my '05 6MT late last week. Should be here by the end of May.

Since I don't have one yet, and I'm Itchin' to find out everything I can... What does the user's manual say about the break in? I'm going to pick up the car and drive about 2500 miles in about 10 days. I'd like to know what I can and can't do. Can anyone indulge me?

THNX!

This web address will let you download the entire manual for your car (free). It is nice to have on the computer as well as in the glove box.

Enjoy the car and I hope the wait isn't too hard.
