Just as I thought, the 300hp 350Z is no faster than the 287hp Z

I say who gives a **** about the ratings. It has been absolutely murdered on this board, can we please move on to something else. I am so ****ing tired of reading people's posts about the same crap over and over. Not to be a downer on the thread or anything, its just getting really annoying.

So why read it, much less post something useless like that? You're acting like a guy who splashed through a mud puddle in his new suit, then did it again and again, looking more and more bewildered each time.

"I am annoyed by this mud puddle," you say, "can I please move on to something else?"

Sure can, Alex. Stop tromping through it.

But this is the first true test of the new 298-300hp motor. People were wanting "numbers" and we've got some.

His car = 280 hp/ 270 torque
Your car = 260 hp/ 260 torque

Am I missing something?

I thought he had an 05 MT not AT. And just so you aren't mislead - my car is nowhere near 260/260. DaveB has a point..this additional power is probably only noticeable on the track. You 05 guys all gained a bit of weight...but at least they are starting to turn what seemed like a truck motor in the stock 03 into a more breathable motor up top. Oddly the editors at pick your favorite mag seem to complain about the lack of up top on the 05's. I guess all that torque would make the top end seem light unless the car had top end of 350 hp. Better than VTEC still.

If you did not go over 4000 RPMS, then you did NOT get into the extra power of the 298HP egine - which is in the upper RPMS. I bet dynographs of the 2 engines laid on top of each other will hardly show much difference below 4000 RPM. If you didn't go above 4000 RPMs, then you wouldn't have seen the extra power.
trebien, I only posted once, so you must have some counting disability. I accept that the dyno curve for the 298 HP engine probably lays on top of my 260 hp G35S up to 4000 rpm or even higher. And your point is? My point is that anyone who is expecting the 2005 model to be any quicker in real life driving is simply fooling himself (herself, to be PC).

If you want any real difference in performance at real world conditions, we need more than a numbers game from the advertising department.

6MT vs 6MT, any year vs any year, I think we can all agree that it'll be a driver's race.
