quieter ride perhaps?

I have a 05 g35s with the sprt tuned suspension, i was wondering if anyone knows we can have a quieter ride with our car, i dont know whether the sound is coming from the engine or the exhaust, muffler or wat, i would like to enjoy little quiet ride from time to time, because i am already feeling and hearing each and every bump there is on the road. and the sound is just annoying.

Unfortunately it sounds like you bought the wrong car and especially the wrong the suspension setup. The Sport-tuned suspension is pretty firm for a sedan and I too feel that it can be a bit harsh around town, but it's the price you pay for better handling. Noise wise, which tires do you have? I have the Bridgestone EL42s and they're pretty harsh with 30psi (factory recommendation) in colder weather and fairly loud on concrete. Changing to a better tire will probably reduce some of the ride harshness and noise.

If you want a quieter and softer ride, you'll have to:

1) swap in the standard springs and struts
2) Go with a smaller 16" wheel and taller tire

Exhaust noise wise, again, wrong car. Infiniti made the exhausts quiet sporty sounding, even the sedans. I'm amazed at how noisy my sedan's OEM exhaust is, but I like it that way.

Hey bud....hate to tell ya...that is what you get with the G35 and the Sport tuned suspension. It sure sounds like you need the non-sport tuned version!

You will get used to it I'm sure.

hey guy, thanx much for the input. this is my first car that i bought on my own, and very huge jump from a 86 toyota cressida old beater. i defenitely love the handling of it right now. but i am still wondering if the sound is comin from engine or the exhaust, regardless of which, the sound is sure very very noticeable from 0-40mph 1k-3k rpm. after gettin around 50mph the sound starts to diminish or lessen a bit.

Having driven the 2005 sedan three times now, I believe the exhaust is the culprit. The 2005
stock sounds like my 2003 with the Ztube + Stillen HiFlow AirBox + HKS muffler. The first
time I drive the 2005 sedan, I took it home and removed the engine cover. The intake tube
looks to be the same. Then I laid my 2003 stock muffler next to the 2005 muffler, it also looks
the same. Someone mentioned that the mid-pipe was different on the 2005, that might explain
the more agressive exhaust note. I love the way the 2005 sedan sounds!

I just installed B-quiet's Ultimate sound deadener in the trunk and under the rear seat. I also cut a "trunk carpet" out of their V-Comp deadener.

I've got the Crawford cats and Stillen cat-back dual exhaust(and the sport suspension) & it makes a noticeable difference. However, it adds a bit of weight. The V-comp can be removed for the strip, but the Ultimate material is permanently applied (.35 lb/sq ft.)

Cheers, Ted

It is true that the car is a bit stiff, but you get used to it. The first week I drove my car, I thought I was having back troubles. But starting this week, the car's starting to feel silky smooth now.

I have the Turanza's, and they don't sound THAT loud. When you start to accelrate, you pretty much hear the engine followed by the exhaust note. I dont think it's that loud, because a few of my friends have sat in my car, and after me telling them: "I love the exhaust note of this car." One guy said, "I dont really hear the exhaust."

Don't worry. You'll learn to love your car. I know I love mines XD
