Hello G team,

I had a local shop put my coupe mid-pipe on this morning (wow, BTW!!! Very nice), and they noticed that the AC belt was ripped in half and just lying there. The compressor itself (obviously not turning) is rusting a little.

What the heck? Just a torn belt? Some other problem? What is the belt warranty? Can a broken belt damage other stuff?

I have an appointment at my dealer next week so I want to 1) be prepared for their answer and 2) get a heads-up.

It's really strange - the thing just looks like it ripped. 40k miles.

 

Your out of warranty, but a new belt isnt that expensive. There is a TSB to re-align the A/C compressor due to increased wear to the belt also causing belt sqeaking.

 

Hummm... If there is a TSB about re-aligning the compressor to reduce excessive belt wear, you would think the belt would be covered...

Maybe not.
