That is darned impressive. I get a consistent 19.5 on a tank filling up with about 18 1/2 gallons. Usually around 350 or so miles. And all I've ever used is 93 octane. Now I'm tempted to use 89 or 87. They don't sell 91 octane here anymore(Mississippi)

I have an 03 6mt sedan. When first started in the mornings I shift at 1500rpm untill the car is warmed up then from then on I shift at 2000rpm. I try to get into 6th as soon as possible. On warm days my G does ping for a quick second with 87 octane. It goes away with 89. I cant tell any performacne difference between any of the different grades of gas. I normally stop and fill up when my light comes on but this last time I was just leaving work and sitting in traffic and knew I could make it home (about 70 miles away). So I did. Im sure if I can get onto an open road and put the cruise on at 65 mph I can get better than 25.5. Anyway, just thought I would share.... our cars gas mileage greatly depends on how you drive it.

HOLY CRAP. how are you guys driving? pretty slow... or VERY VERY slow?

my best ever was 21 mpg. i usually get 17-19 mpg.

also, i used to shift at 2K as well, but then someone told me that since our powerband is more towards the middle, we should wait to shift at 3.5 or so.

any input on that guys?

First fill-up on my '05 6MT

I was pleasantly surprised after reading the horror stories here: 311 miles on 15.1 gallons of dealer-supplied gas netted 20.6 mpg. The tank was about 75 percent highway/25 percent city, with highway speeds around 65 to 70 mph most of the time. (There were a few blasts to 85 and some old-man driving at 60 too. There were also about a half-dozen test drives around the block with different folks behind the wheel.) I'd categorize my overall driving this tank as very conservative, with no applications of full throttle and no upshifts beyond 4000 rpm.

I averaged 22 to 24 mpg in my 5-speed Altima 3.5 SE in a similar mileage split but with more aggression, always running 93 octane. I have no idea what my dealer put in there -- almost certainly 87 octane -- so I'll be curious to see whether the next tank gets similar mileage.

I drive as fast as everyone else on the streets... Shifting this car at 2k rpm is more than enough to keep up with or pass most traffic. When the freeway is moving I have no problem going 80 or more, whatever traffic permits. But like I said, at lest half of my driving is in slow rush hour traffic. It just pays to get this car into 6th ASAP. I would say 45 mph or higher..... be in 6th. So far Im at 52K, stock clutch, tires, and second set of brakes. All of those miles in the year and 4 months I have owned the car.
