X-mobile

Had a typical Colorado storm move in last night - started snowing around 7 (after being close to 60 during the day) and where I live had 6 inches of snow this morning. Having just given my X its first real wash last weekend, I was avoiding even the smallest of puddles. But of course I wanted to get the car on snow, so I was happy this morning when I opened the garage door. My other vehicles are an 01 Z71 Tahoe w/ 31" BFG ATs, and an 04 Volvo XC70. No question the Tahoe is simply unstoppable in snow, not as good w/ those tires on highway ice, and obviously requires more stopping distance. The XC70 is absolutely the best vehicle I have driven on packed snow and ice, handles great, and stops great. I hoped the X would be similar, and it absolutely is. Got to go through the un-plowed side streets (with a nice, crusty layer on top of the snow from the heavy winds), plowed but snow packed main street, and icy packed highway. The X is superb. Acceleration was whatever I wanted it to be, and there was no side to side action whatsoever. And this is w/ the Goodyear RSAs... must be unreal w/ better tires. Very happy w/ my decision to go w/ the X!
