Question How much does your dealer charge for oil change?

I had the oil changed in my '04 G35 Sedan last week at the Palm Springs, CA dealership at which I bought the car. I had negotiated my first two services free with the purchase of the vehicle, but the service rep. forgot and handed me a bill. The total was $68.xx and I was like . (Don't worry, I didn't have to pay it).

The details: the price included oil change and disposal, new "oil plug seal", rotated tires and a wash (neither of the last two did I ask for). I was told that loaner cars were not offered for oil changes, only major services when I made the appointment, so I'm not factoring that in.

How much do the rest of you pay at your dealership? I don't think I'll be going back after the second service.

ADD: Maybe we should list the service that's included to compare apples to apples.

PS I searched other threads on this topic, but none were specifically for this purpose: others only mentioned it while discussing dealership experiences or as to why they change their own oil.

Costa Mesa Infiniti = $35.00
Just oil change. No loaner for oil changes. No rotation. Straight out....just oil change.

I took the car in once for a leather repair, they accidentally cut it in the deliver process, and when I got it back, I found out that they washed the car, streaks everywhere!!!....and they somehow curbed my RIM!!!!!!!!!! I can't prove that they did it....but I'm going to be one picky a** m***** f***** the next time I take it. I'll bring a camera along to show proof and take the pictures with the service manager.

$30.25 Labor (replace oil & filter; inspect exhaust; inspect susp)
$16.25 Oil
$1.99 Washer Seal
$8.25 Filter
$2.65 Waste Disposal
+ tax

What a ripoff....but it was a courtesy oil change so no charge.

That's along the lines of my bill... I'm saying to myself "oil plug seal?, give me a break". Looks like they did alot if it's all itemized out, I guess .

I bring my own oil and West Houston Infiniti charges me around $22. I think it is worth it. They always give me a loner, now they have a fleet of 2005 sedans.

I bought my G at Thousand Oaks as well. Free oil changes for the life of the car. But they get you in other places. You have to do every service in the service manual, you don't have a choice. So the first oil change is free, but then second one you have to pay for because it involves checking your washer fluids, brakes, etc...

But $30 to $40 is about right. I usually get it for $20, but that's for non-syn oil and I know the owner. Some places will even do it for less, if they have a very special promotion. But on average, $30 to $40 is about right.

Free loaner, wash (if you want it) and interior vacuum. First change.
Oil/Filter change $20.37
Engine Oil $7.56
Filter Asy-0il $6.84
O/ring drain oil $0.89
Top off fluids $2.00
Tax $2.25
TOTAL $39.91

I was a little surprised at the "top off fluids" charge, on the other hand they didn't charge me the waste disposal fee that they (and others) have in the past. (My Subaru oil change at the local garage was $25 in Sept.)

I've been very happy with their service in the past too.

most places are around $40. Most places always do the car wash no matter what, even if its just to reset the tire pressure light. If they dont charge the waste disposal fee that means that they have higher rates to offset the cost of the waste, most dealerships just make the waste fee on services that require them so that the other customer dont have to pay if they arent getting an oil change.
