Pulling the Trigger on a G35 (New vs. Used)
Pulling the Trigger on a G35 (New vs. Used)
I was planning to wait until next fall/winter and try to find a used '05 or dealer demo 6MT Sedan with ~ 15 k on it to save the $$$ on initial depreciation, but...
I made a mistake and drove a 2005 G35 6MT the other day... Now I've got the bug to buy a new one.
They have the exact car I want on the lot now (silver 6MT, premium package, stone interior, etc.) , but I prefer to wait at least until summer. The chances of them having a 6MT on the lot at that time are probably slim. The chances of me finding exactly what I want in a used G35 are even slimmer unless I settle for an automatic instead. I was told that they extended the 2.9% financing incentive at least for a short time, but I'm not sure how much longer Greenspan will allow that to continue.
Decisions, decisions...
Any thoughts on pros and cons of buying new vs. used, now vs. later? How late in the calendar year can I still order an '05 model?

pulling the trigger
I recently went through a similar dilema..... and just brought home a brand new, 2004, 6mt, carib blue, with nav/prem, mud flaps... for 28.5k (list plus ttl 36k) with 2.9%. end of month deal I could not refuse. I was looking at a 2004 used with about 18k miles on it for 22.5k (no prem, leather, no bose, sr). I was calling to make an appointment to buy the used 2004 when the phone rang and it was the dealership calling back (second time, first time they were are 32k) to say you can have it for 28.5k. To me, when the price to move up to a new vehicle (all things being equal) is 3-4k, I would consider moving to a new one. I had looked at a 2004 used TL with nav and they want (their best offer) 31.5. I passed as it was too close to a new one and getting pricey. good luck.
I'm typically a used car buyer, but I went new this time, and have had NO regrets. With the G35s holding their value, you're really not going to save that much. Plus, with the 2.9%, no concerns about how beaten up a demo REALLY gets, and dealers willing to move at the end of a month, the choice is made easier

I bought a used 2003 sedan, did not save much.....ended up having to fix a bunch of stuff the jerk who leased it did to it, so I probably saved nada. Get a new one and do yourself a favor!
