are u and english proffesor or do u jsut enjoy giving people a hard time bout grammer.
That "sentence"...*sigh* just horrid. Nope, not a professor- just someone who knows how to properly communicate. One doesn't need to be a professor to have a grasp of grammar, spelling, and the language they speak. Like it or not, people who can't structure a sentence properly come across as less than intelligent. I have an extremely low level of respect for anyone who can't string a simple sentence together, and that's that. It takes no time at all to put a post together with proper grammar and spelling. And speaking of which, how hard is it to learn how to spell?

And I'll continue to give people a hard time if they can't put a simple post together and I decide to point it out. I really could not care any less if that makes me seem pompous, arrogant, etc.- I already know those adjectives and more describe me, and I'm proud of that.

You must get invited to dozens of parties as Mr. Entertainment. I'd bring you just to watch the fireworks:

Bob: "I was talking with Sally, to who I'm related, and..."
SnM: "You bloody fool! Use the objective form of that pronoun in this context! I'll have no more of this!" (storms off to loo, locks door, cries uncontrollably while masturbating to AP Stylebook)

By the way, if you didn't take yourself so seriously, you'd have realized that Bill's "horrid" sentence was purposely written that way. Sarcasm can be a very thin line indeed.

You and a lot of other people on this forum need to lighten up on the grammar issue. I won't clamber atom my high horse yet again on this subject, so please do this: let it go. You'll be happier. Trust me.

IMO, JKWright missed a couple of letters in his screen name -- maybe it's just a false impression gathered from lengthy soap box ramblings and the fact that I really don't know him (where have I heard that before... hmmm). Touche Monsieur Wright.

Record to date: 90 posts equating to 1 memorable quote, "Sarcasm can be a very thin line indeed" --- I haven't decided yet which side of that line I'm favoring.

Here's another one of my favorite quotes from an old technical writing instructor: Communication is wonderfully subjective.

... now wait for it..... here comes another, soon to be famous, diatribe whilst donning spandex tights and cape to become the defender of internet speak.

That makes no sense. Why would I ********** in the bathroom? It's supposed to be a party...

I know BillMartin's writing style, as we've gotten into it before. I also know that his sentence was written that terribly on purpose. It was still horrid, and I didn't include his post just for him. The fact is that it entertains me to know that some of the members of this site read what he typed and most likely didn't see why it's incorrect.

You and a lot of other people on this forum need to lighten up on the grammar issue. I won't clamber atom my high horse yet again on this subject, so please do this: let it go. You'll be happier. Trust me
I don't need to do anything you suggest. I don't need to lighten up on the issue of spelling and grammar, either, and I have no intention of doing so. If anything, people need to learn how to structure a sentence correctly- there is no excuse, bottom line.

As far as being happy goes, I am. It's that simple. This site is 75% entertainment for me, 25% informative. I don't get angry when I see poor grammar and/or spelling- I laugh. Just as I'm laughing at you and your weak attempt at wit.

Matters not what you said. The following matters : April 21, 1836 - After retreating eastward for more than a month, the Texian Army defeats the larger Mexican force at the Battle of San Jacinto, capturing General Santa Anna and securing Texas' independence.
May have lost the battle--but won the war!!!!

You silly Brits--- If the U.S. had not helped Britain in the form of materials, ships, food ( The Lend-Lease Act), you Brits would of fallen to the Germans.

Full text Alamo:1836
February 8 - Former Tennessee congressman David Crockett arrives at the Alamo with a group of volunteers.

February 12 - With the departure of Neill, Travis is elected commander of the regular army forces at the Alamo, while Jim Bowie is chosen to lead the volunteers.

February 23 - The Mexican army under Antonio López de Santa Anna reaches San Antonio. The Texian force retreats into the walled Alamo compound.

March 1 - Thirty-two men from Gonzales join the besieged forces at the Alamo.

March 2 - Texas Declaration of Independence is approved by delegates meeting at Washington-on-the-Brazos.

March 6 - The attack upon the fortified Alamo begins before dawn. When the fighting ends, all of its occupants other than women, children, and Travis' slave Joe, are dead. Losses to the attacking Mexican army are estimated to be at least 600.

March 20 - Following a battle near Coleto Creek, the Texian force led by James W. Fannin is captured.

March 27 - On the order of General Santa Anna, Fannin and a force of almost 350 men are executed at Goliad.

April 21 - After retreating eastward for more than a month, the Texian Army defeats the larger Mexican force at the Battle of San Jacinto, capturing General Santa Anna and securing Texas' independence.

May 14 - The Treaties of Velasco are signed by Santa Anna, promising the cessation of hostilities and the withdrawal of Mexican troops to below the Rio Grande.

September - The Constitution of the Republic of Texas is approved by vote; Sam Houston is elected president.

October - First Congress of the Republic of Texas convenes.

November - Santa Anna is released by the Texians and travels to Washington to meet with United States officials.

I have to admit, Bloke, the British really shouldn't be pointing fingers at people about not coming out the victors in skirmishes. Remember the American Revolution?

Naw, I'm done. I think I said that before and lied horribly. But really, I'm done. I won't swear, but I'm pretty sure I'm done.

But wait, I'm not entirely done: I felt sorry for the poor kid, that's all. He posted a very heartfelt thread in which he referred to himself as an idiot, asking for help, and several presumptuous boners stepped up to the plate for easy bunts at his grammar. It disturbed me.

Reading through Bill Martin's posts -- after the fact, as usual -- I'll concede the point that he was not at all being sarcastic. In fact his writing skills reside somewhere between Fourth Grade/Alabama and 14-month/Immigrant. But they're fun to read in a Captain Code-deciphering kind of way.

Finally, I am impressed that the Alamo was interjected into this thread.

BTW... all sarcasm and kidding aside... I agree that it took guts to call himself an idiot --- kudos!

As I tell my kids, take responsibility by admitting what you did and then do your best to make it right -- steps to becoming a real man.

Back on topic.... I use GT88 Scratch Remover to fill in the deeper scratches and then finish with Meguire's Show Car Glaze (#7) -- My wife scuffed the rear bumper on her van and now after using the above you can hardly see the scrape.

Yes, it took courage, even in the "anonymous" world of the Internet to post his original message. After all, even if no one he knew would recognize him, he was going to read the replies. I'll bet he wasn't expecting the Alamo or WWII. And it took some brains to realize he could ask here. These are ^^ "steps to becoming a real man" (or woman).
