Strange clicking noise while in Park?

Hey fellas,

I just recently installed spoiler on my 2004 G35. After connecting the spolier light to the brake light line, my car makes strage clicking noise every time I press my brakes. Funny thing is that this happens when instrumental power or the engine is on while in park. It doesn't happen when the power is shut off or in any other gears. Also, the noise is coming directly from the center (between the driver and the passenger seats); near the selector lever.

I am thinking that maybe the spoiler is drawing up too much current so when I cut the spoiler's power, the noise still occur. Did anyone face this kind of problem before?

Thanks in advance!

LoL If you got a 5AT its normal, When you press on your brake pedal your just activating the solenoid in your tranny to unlock it so you can trough it in gear. No worries i got it too and im sure everyone else with 5AT. Just turn up the music and you wont hear it LOL

Hmmm, are your sure? I mean, the click is loud (not subtle at all). I just noticed this noise since yesterday when I installed the spoiler.

And I can tell its coming from the center console since I can feel the vibration from the selector lever each time that noise occur.

Thanks.

I have an '03 sedan with the factory spoiler, I do not have a clicking noise when I press the brake.

BTW, Jack Bauer you're doing a helluva job with CTU, keep up the good work.

Thanks for the quick replies. I have verified this problem with 2 Infiniti dealers. I guess I was a little paranoid

And yes, this was the longest day of my life...

I was waiting for someone to say it! It's on tonight, too.

I haven't heard the click, but I'll listen for it.

I tried it before I drove home (a nice day so I took a twisted fun road, even though it is only a couple of miles and makes the trip twice as long, or more-still only about 15 minutes).

There certainly is a click and I could feel it in the shift lever. I am sure it is, as DaVeeD said, the solenoid (or similar) that releases the shift lever so you can get it out of park. I wouldn't ordinarily hear it because the radio usually comes on when I start up and I start the car with my foot on the brake and the engine sound could drown it. Plus, my ears are 60.5 years old.

When you said "I have verified this problem with 2 Infiniti dealers" I trust you mean they agreed with DaVeeD and it is not a problem, because otherwise I'll have to start worrying.

Holy crap, I do have that clicking noise! I have been driving my G for three years and I never noticed it before. How sad is that?
