A few naging problems at 22k miles

My gas meter is horribly off. I drive for 50 miles AFTER the red light turns on for gas warning and the meter is waaaay into the E. I fill up the tank with very close to 17 gallons. We have a 20 gallon tank. The car is not even close to being empty. And when I fill it up it doesnt go ALL the way to the top. Also my headlights are always foggy and I want the dealership to do something about it instead of me always buying expensive cleaner to fix a defective part.

IF you can't fill it up (a common reported problem you can search on) you may consider that the gas guage is fine. As for the lights I have 25K miles and you need to simply maintain the lenses with a couple of products. I believe there is an FAQ for that with product names quoted that work. McGuier's (sp) is the one I use - in a white bottle with a grey creamy color application.

1) I've never seen fuel gauge which is 100% accurate. Relying on it will get you stuck somewhere with no gas. Use trip odometer to track your fuel consumption.
2) ALL headlight lenses get affected by smog, acid rain and wax residue from power car washes. It is just in G they have fairly large horizontal area-"fogging" is more visible and air pollutants stay on longer. You need not only clean them, but also wax them-to repel these pollutants.
3) Get BMW

nismo, I had the very same problem. I told the dealer about it and they replaced a faulty fuel sender. It fixed the problem 100%. Now my gas guage shows full when full and empty when empty. The world is a better place now. I think there is even a TSB about this.
