Back in 1997 I was sitting in the far right lane waiting to get off of I-64 onto Indian River Road. It's a Virginia Beach exit with a reputation for being backed up and a traffic nightmare. It happens all day, everyday. You just have to grin and bear it.

I'm sitting there in my brand new 1997 Sentra SE-R (hey - I was much broker then) with less than 3000 miles on the ODO. All of a sudden I hear this horrible squealing of brakes and look in the rearview just in time to see a 1988 Honda Accord inbound at a ridiculous rate of speed.

The guy was braking so hard that his front bumper was literally dragging the asphalt, but it was clear to me that he wasn't going to stop in time. I had just enough time to yell a very loud "FOCK" and nail the gas to try to get into the break-down lane and clear of his path of disaster. I barely got moving when the guy plowed me.

The nose of his car was so low from his emergency braking that he went under my rear bumper and scooped the rear end of my car up off the ground. I flew into the breakdown lane, bounced off the guardrail, came to a stop, gathered myself, secured the car, and then exited the vehicle with the intent of tearing the guy's FOCKING throat out. I'm not a big guy, but I was big enough to scare this dickless wonder down under the dashboard of his car. When the cops came I was still half in the guys window, verbally a$$-raping him for his incompetence behind the wheel. They had to pull me away.

Ahhh, the good old days.

I got the car fixed, but it was never the same. I drove it for about two weeks and then traded it for a Maxima - the car I just traded on this G.

I feel for you - I know EXACTLY what you're going through although my accident was on a much lower financial scale. It didn't matter - it was a brand new car and was my baby at the time.

Good luck. Hope the damage isn't too bad..

I hear ya soad. I had 1500 miles on my Sedan when I got rear ended. $4k worth of damage. Oh well, it's just a car. Get it fixed at a good shop that deals with a lot of high end cars and be sure YOU drive the repairs; don't let the insurance company do it. Insist on new parts vs repaired parts and make sure you're 100% happy with the work before you take your car back.

Good luck dude

Get in line. I was rear-ended just the other day too on the 57. I have about 3K miles. Damage is not bad - I've narrowed it down to 2 repair shops.
