Final test drive - two observations

1) I can't find the way to adjust the "adjustable lunbar support"? I checked all sides of the seat, and seat back. What am I missing?

2) The auto-on/off headlights do not turn on when you turn on your wipers. (Do other manufactures do that automatically?)

The lumbar support is located between the driver's seat and the pop up console, kinda tough to find as it is only a small lever molded to match seat color. It's kind of tough to work with, but not horrible.

I don't use the auto headlights, so can't help ya there.

-Enjoy!

1) It should be on the side of the drivers seat

2) I always use Auto on/off headlights and there have been times when I used the wipers while lights were on.

1) I had thought it was on the other side of the drivers seat (window side) so I spent more time looking there, and took only a quick glance on the other side. I was puzzled. Is it on the base of the seat or on the seat back?

2) I imagine there have been times when you used the wipers and the lights were on - because it was "dark enough" out for the auto headlights to come on. In NY - if we have wipers on, our headlights need to be on. Not a huge deal - just a tiny detail I feel they "missed". Then again, I'd kind of like daytime running lights too

As designed. The two systems are not connected.

Correct. I don't know about other cars but I find it a little annoying that the lights don't turn off when in the manual "on" setting and the car is turned off. My Subaru does that and it's just makes sense to me.

Huh? I'm confused. You agreed with him, then you say the two systems are not connected.

They do... eventually. I think it takes like 45 seconds after locking the car or something.

That is in auto mode. I think in the "on" position the lights stay on for 5 minutes after the car is turned off and you exit.

Battery save feature.

Oh, that's interesting. I've never left them on to see that happen.

In the Canadian version you'll find both features. To accomodate the daytime running lights they put the two high bulbs in series (1/4 power) and I believe that requires the HID bulbs be replaced with Halogen. (Maybe a Canadian owner can confirm.)

I also would like the headlights to come on automatically when wipers are operated as this is the law here in Maryland also.

I've never had a car with lights that come on with the wipers. If you just want a short wipe you wouldn't want the lights to come on, especially since the manual says that the life of the xenons "will be shortened by frequent on-off operation."

The headlights will turn off automatically after 5 minutes if in the "on" position. The manual (p2-21) refers to this as a "battery saver" and does not recommend leaving the switch in the on position for long periods when the car is not running. I am not sure why it is a problem, but I follow that particular one.

The lumbar control is on the side of the driver's seat near the console.

The manual is available on line for downloading-I'll find the site.

I thought you were ready to buy it already!

Here is the link to download the owner's manual. I downloaded the one for my 04 in Sept 04 about a month before I was even serious about buying it and curiously, the 05 manual was there also, months before the car was released.
