05' G35x Ride Height
Can anyone confirm that the 05' X ride height is the SAME as the 05' RWD?
I know the 04' X was ~.4" higher than the 04' RWD.
I have done some searching/researching and have not found anything to dictate otherwise. According to Infiniti's website, ALL 05' Sedans Overall heights are 57.7".
Anyone have the 05' Factory Service Manuel to check this ?
Thanks,

If you find out, please, please let me know. I'm getting 20's soon and am thinking about dropping it .5 to 1 inch and knowing the +- .4" sure would help. I have searched and can't find out either. Although, the 04 service manual, I believe, also says that all 04 sedan ride heights are the same, which is untrue, from what I have heard from others here.

05 G35x is .4 inches higher off of the ground than the RWD model.
This is most notable when you look at the gap in the wheelwell on RWD cars with 17inch wheels which obviously don't have the sport package.
The gearing is also different. And the brakes are smaller in diameter on the X models.

Does anyone have any idea what the reasoning is behind this difference in height? Is it purely for ground clearance, assuming that the AWD will be on nastier roads more often or is there some other reason, i.e. suspension, axles, etc? Will lowering an AWD G cause any problems other than the standard camber and rubbing issues?
Thanks in advance.

Daddy...I thought you said you didn't want to lower your car. I guess you changed your mind.
Anyway, the AWD is .44" higher than the RWD. Also, there is no lowering kit in the market today designed to lower the AWD. Most guys that drive the AWD have done it using the EIBACH pro kit which is designed for the RWD.
However, from what I've heard they killed the ride quality. I've heard it is very harsh on the car and sometimes the car buckles when it hits some bumps on the road.
If you use this kit, you should consider changing your shocks to TOKICOS D-SPECS, and cutting your bump stops at least 1". Then get the alignment done right away otherwise you will wear out your new tires very quick.
If you do this your ride will be nice and smooth with no problems.
Good Luck.

Yeah, I did say that I didn't want to lower it but you know how that goes. My mind keeps saying "lower it" but my warranty keeps saying "leave it alone." I want to get the 20's as soon as I find the perfect wheel but I don't want the car to sit to high and look silly. I'm really, really undecided at this point. I wish there was an X somewhere here in Indianapolis I could see with 20's. I'm just so afraid of that "jacked up" look some cars tend to have when placed on big rims.

Is everyone POSITIVE the 05' X's ride height is .4" taller like the 04' X's ??
Why doesn't say that on the infiniti website ? http://www.infiniti.com/content/mode...,75121,00.html

This is not my car. It is someone else's. I hope it helps you guys.

1st picture exagerates the gap of the stock wheels by being shot from a low perspective. You can see the top of the windows on the passenger side, the interior roof and right under the car. But the modded shot shows the car from a more "straight-on" angle. The perspective is different and the gap has closed-up.
I'm not saying the car didn't drop. But from these pictures, it looks like a 3" drop!!!

I don't know him personally. I found the picture and his email address at cardomain.com
I can tell you that I have the RWD with 20x8.5 +35, 245/35/20 all the way around and just got it lowered with the EIBACH PRO KIT.
The drop is excellent, the ride quality and handling are amazing. Not harsh at all, it feels very, very close to stock ride. The OEM shocks work really well with the springs. I've been driving the car in good and bad roads, over bumps, on the highway, normal city driving and hard as well. The progressive springs really do their job.
Having 20's on is a real plus for me. The gap is virtually gone and I don't have any rubbing issues at all.
As for the camber, the shop where I had the springs intalled did the alignment right after. They were able to pull the camber, toe and caster back into specs, except for the REAR LEFT that has -0.7 degrees in the camber.
They told me it wasn't a great cause for concern. Visually the car looks perfect.

Does the FSM specs listed for the G35X show different alignment specs for the X vs RWD G sedans? Oem camber specs for RWD sedans allow for up to -1.08 rear camber, -0.7 is well within spec. These cars are best served by having negitive camber anyhow, which the specs allow for (still don't know if X specs differ or not however).
