me..and the car to...(LMAO)
When and If you do get the Jetta diesel, check out APR (Audi Performance and Racing)www.goapr.com
They make alternate programs for the turbos. I had a 01 Wolfsburg as a commuter and bought the "second program" option. I was then able to switch from stock mode to performance mode and back via the cruise control. It would probably bring your mpg down to low to mid 30's w/ ~170hp & > 200 lbs torque. Still beats G35 mpg!
They now have a 4yr/50000 mile warranty, which is a good thing.
Also you might want to hang out @ www.wvvortex.com
Cheers!!

FWIW, I was wanting to look at the Passat when I was still looking for a car (admittedly, most are FWD, but ignore that
However, I was looking at the 6 cyl, and they seemed to be in REAL short supply. One dealer said you didn't need the 6 cyl, since the German turbos were better than the average turbo. (it seems from what I hear that turbos are generally reliability issues). Anyway, the dealership only had 1 6 cyl, and it was used.
The other dealership, I couldn't even find someone to come out and help me look at the floor model, which was the only 6 cyl available.
At least at Infiniti, I could find help.

Talk to BullyDog Technologies about making that Jetta run like a G. They are diesel performance specialists, dealing primarily with the pickups. But I'm pretty sure they have some parts for VW diesels too. I've seen what they can do to pickups; ever seen an F250 4x4 run 100mph in the quarter? They've can do it, no problem.

The Passat has about 1200 miles on it now and today, I got 39.5 MPG to work !!! That is twice what I was getting in the G. It is a very stable high speed car although it won't corner like the G. Ya gotta give to get! Oh well.

We own a 00' Jetta diesel 5 spd...43/45 mpg. and nothing but probs.
( new one is supposed to be greatly improved
) I haven't touched it since we got the G/X. and I most likely won't. It was as exciting as getting hit in the A$$ by a marshmellow
... lol...good luck and don't be a stranger...take care. JBX
