Found a 2" tow hook cover in glove compartment

Picked up my new G 2 days ago and found a 2" square tow hook cover painted in my color in the glove compartment. I could not find where this belongs on the car. Is the tow hook cover beneath the front license plate holder by bumper? Do I need to put the cover back on to the car? Anybody else get a loose tow hook cover when they bought the car?

Yes the access is under the front plate. When they mounted your plate they must have used that access hole. No worries.

Thanks- does that mean I might have a problem accessing the tow hook if I need to be towed?

Carry a screw driver. You are best off using the tow hook instead of having some careless tow truck driver drag your car on a flatbed (hopefull this never happens) by its suspension.

Corgi... they just leave the cover off if you are using a front license plate. You should also have the tow hook in your trunk or it could be in the little tool kit that comes with your jack. Make sure you have it, but hopefully you will never need it.

Yes, when they mounted my front plate they took off the cover and gave it to me. The tow hook should be in the tool kit where the spare is.

You'll probably never need it, of course.

On the 2005 sedan, does the license plate mount using the tow hook hole, or do you have to drill holes in the bumper and screw it into the bumper?

The holes need to be drilled if you use the factory front license plate mount. Stillen makes a adapter that attaches to the tow hook mount instead.
