New 2005 -- Whee!
I've just finished a 500 mile road trip in my new shiny new Diamond Graphite / Graphite Sedan. It was loads of fun! The obligatory pictures are located at my website.
The Sales Experience @ Infiniti of Memphis
Cliff Taylor at Infiniti of Memphis did a stellar job of working with me to get the exact car I wanted. I flew to Memphis back in February to look at the car and take a test drive while I was there for other business. I flew back in this past Friday and picked up a car. Working over the phone in between was really very easy.
Cliff and the rest of the sales team jumped through hoops to get me a deal. They waited for a good 3 months before closing the deal, very patiently. They also trailored a car in from somewhere in Arkansas because they didn't have the exact model I wanted. In fact, while they were prepping it, Cliff noticed that someone'd managed to lightly scratch the windshield (something about turning on the wipers while the protective covers were still on). Apparently no one else noticed it until then. Instead of polishing it out and moving on, they trailored another car in overnight (though from what I hear this time the OTHER dealer was the one that initiated the swap).
Their sales manager was a fairly nice fellow; I really don't see what all the fuss is about with buying cars. Granted, I had a VPP deal, but over all, it was a very quick and easy experience. That was the easiest $34,000 I've ever spent. Come to think of it, that's the ONLY $34,000 I've ever spent.
The Car - 2005 Diamond Graphite / Graphite w/ Premium C and Splash Guards
The car's stellar! I do wish now that I'd opted out of the extra trunk mat and saved a dollar or so per month. Anyone want to buy one? Its unused!
To me, the plain black mat looks good enough, and is still removable and heavy duty enough to take a beating.
I need to get together a list of every feature that's programmable. I'll probably spend part of tomorrow afternoon messing with features.
So far I know that:
1. The REV light can be set.
2. The alarm can be changed into a silent mode.
What else can be tweaked?
I have the Premium C package, and so got the i-Key. The alarm makes a very nice tone, rather than honking the horn if you arm it from the door handle. No one mentioned this elsewhere so I figured I would.
I DID experience the dreaded uncomfortable driver's seat around an hour or two into the drive -- I'll probably spend part of tomorrow trying to bend the seat pan as mentioned in this thread. Any pointers (other than "Go work out"
)?
This is going to be fun...

Congrats Mike ... and I have to compliment you on your choice of color. IMHO the DG is the best.
I've had mine about 2 weeks and just rolled past 500 miles, with most of that being local driving. I still cannot get this silly grin off of my face.
No problems with the drivers seat for me ... it took a short while to find the "sweet spot" ... and now I'm a happy camper. Of course, being a somewhat vertically-challenged 5'7" I fit just about everywhere

I've actually been pretty amused by the number of hits that gallery has taken in the past week or so that it's been online. In that time, around 400 megabytes of data have been served just in those graphics alone! Yipe!
Glad I have the upgraded plan.

I was somewhat annoyed with this guy... this guy posting direct links to pictures of my car (and neighborhood, incidentally). Whoever you are, ask permission next time before direct linking. You just made me waste a half hour figuring out how to keep you from doing that again.
Anyway! Thanks for taking a moment to reply, and I suppose I'll keep the gallery online, just to keep the people that search for "diamond graphite pictures" on a daily! basis sated.

Access logs can reveal some pretty entertaining things... for example... nah, I won't post those. I was going to post random domains, but its probably best not to.

One interesting note is that at least ONE person from inside Nissan USA clicked through from FreshAlloy.com and browsed around. I guess the consumer voice really is heard. Cool.

Now that I've officially passed my thesis defense
I get to keep my new job, and therefore keep the car. Yay!
Oh, as far as mods go, nothing major's going to happen to this car -- I love the way it looks and performs just as it came from the factory!
Have a good night folks,

Nice car-enjoy it! I'm partial to DG, although I got the willow (an 04 choice) interior. But your graphite looks nice too.
Mike,
The service at Infiniti is awesome. I also bought my car from Infiniti of Memphis with Cliff Taylor as my salesman. He would call and answer your calls even if he's off work. I notice a small dent in my car like 2 weeks after I bought my car. LOL, I wonder if some idoit did it or was it the dealer. I told him about it, and he ask me to go to service manager to look at it. Though I never bother about it, my family have great experience buying from there. Come to Memphis for "Great Service!"^^;

Congrats! IMO, DG is the best color but the G looks pretty good in all colors.
I'm pretty sure the Rev light is a 6mt only option. There is not much to tweak other than doing mods, but the radio and ac controls can take some getting used to.
