What tires did you get with 2005 6mt sedan?

I am about to pick mine up and noticed it comes with these Goodyear NCT5s 235/45/18. I can't find any information on them anywhere. If you have these please share your impressions.

Thanks,

Had mine for about a month and I think these tires are Japanese as I couldn't find data as well. I have never been a fan of Goodyear tires and not too impressed with these either. I know the car should is capable of cornering much better with better tires.

I took the BMW driving course and they used the Michelin Pilot Sport (same as the G35 coupe had last year) and I thought they were awesum.

I've had my G for a month now. It came with the GoodYear NCT5 tires too. I looked them up, it's a newly designed tire for the "sport sedan market" introduced a while ago in Europe.

Anyway, I like the silica compound rubber tires. My driving is 99% dry and rain...no frozen stuff so a summer tire tread is fine for me. I find the silica rubber works better in the rain than carbon rubber...it doesn't slip on the paint strips as much either.

Turn in is good, they hold a line well, road feel is good, and they are pretty quiet. Not the stickiest tire I've driven on but I'd give them a 7 (out of 10*) in rain and 8 in the dry. I can't attest to slip angles as I havn't had them on the track yet. But they are more than sufficient for my aggressive street driving. The characteristics that make it handle well make it ride rougher though, so if your expecting luxury ride these arn't the tires for you. If you live in a winter environment, I'd urge you to buy a set of snow tires.

Normally I'm not a fan of Goodyear, but they seem to have done a good job with this one.

Here's a link: http://www.goodyear.co.uk/services/t...agle_nct5.html

* Scale of 10 based on street "summer" tires and my experiences. A 10 on my dry performance scale is the BFGoodRich G-Force K/D. (GRM also rated it as "stickiest street tire") The Falken Azenis Sport rates as a 9 with the Kuhmo MX. Kuhmo MX get's top marks from me for wet performance and the Bridgestone S-03 is also a 10.

What does that mean, "not hearing good things"?

Recourse, like not having them on the car? Umm, buy different tires?

Kumho ECSTA SPT? Low cost performance tire slightly below the MX series. I'm planning on getting these once my NCT5s need replacement. But as for the NCT5s, I haven't had issue with them Pretty much what imnohero stated is what I would've said.

My '05 6MT came with the Bridgestone Turanza ER33's. I was originally told that the 6MT came with Bridgestone and the Auto came with the NCT5's. Apparently, its more of a random thing. So far, the tires seem to be quite capable and smooth for an OEM tire. Bridgestone has always rated high in my books. I have never had anything good to say about Goodyear, so i am happy to have the Bridgestones. They do give up quite easily, especially in tight turns when the back wants to push out.
Would i rather a set of Pilot Sports? YOU BET. But for some reason, with all the added "sport" that comes with the sport package, Infiniti seems to still think that the average buyer wants a smooth and quiet ride over improved grip and sidewall strength. I will use these tires until they have no more life in them and then buy some REAL rubber.

I'm just hoping I can get 30k mi out of them before they're gone. I'm not fond of spending $1200k on tires after just 12 or 14k mi's as i've heard with the coupe tires (Pilot Sports).

See that is the problem. I would rather have the Bridgestones. Do you think if I see a car on the lot with the Bridgestones I could get them to swithch?

Am I correct in saying the Goodyears are summer tires only?

I have the Turanza ER33's (235/45/18 IIRC) on my '05 5AT with sport suspension. These too are summer tires and from the reviews that I read, not that great on anything but dry pavement. Reviews comment on excessive ride noise and short life span (~20K miles) as well.

Thanks for the reply, it sounds like we should drive all these Oem tires into the ground and buy some good ones at around 20,000 miles.

Just got my 05 6 mt sedan and it came with the Goodyear NCT 5 tires. I read that they wear much better than the Turenzas.

To add one thing to the discussion, i noticed on a showroom car the other day that the Goodyears seem to have a wider overall stance than the Bridgestones, although the look of the bridgestones is a little cleaner. As for treadwear, keep in mind that the rating on the side of the tire is only a comparison to other tires from the SAME manufacturer. Having said that, it doesnt necessarily mean that a 140 rating is worse than a different companies 250. I know first hand that the good old RE92 potenza's, which were always a pretty good tire, had a decently long treadlife, even though they were only rated at 140, yet my goodyear RS-A's on my last car, which had a rating of 280, wore out in less than 20k. Keep in mind as well, that most reviews of this tire were from Camry's with 15" rims. It also had a completely different size and speed rating, so i wouldnt look at it too seriously. There is no doubt, that neither one of these tires will compare to the Pilot Sports or RE050's on the coupe, so my advice is to use them up and replace them.

Treadwear don't mean **** when you have to rip 'em off at 12K to replace them with something that will actually provide traction, after several scary moments driving in the rain.

Sorry. Bitter.

Ignore me,
