Run in with a Jag S type
Run in with a Jag S type
I was going on my way to work and we stopped at a stop light. Next to my right was Jag S-type, I think 2004, black color just like my G.
About 400ft from this stop light there was another stop light where I had to take a right turn. So I had to get ahead of the jag into the right lane very soon.
Light turns green and I push on the gas (not too hard~3500rpm) to get ahead of the jag but to my surprise the guy in the Jag pushed his car as well. Seems like he was expecting me to accelerate like this. As I heard the jags engine roar and as an automatic reaction I pushed on the G more. I think the max the tachometer saw was ~5300rpm (once) during this whole incident so I don't think I really push the G to the max. It is stock Auto. Anyway I did not look to see where he was during the race but I think he was in my blind spot most of the first 100-200ft and by the time I had about 100ft left he was about 3 car lengths behind. I think also as soon as he realized he can't pull on me (around 200ft or so) he may have given up.
Max speed I reached when I shutdown was around 60mph. Btw this was a 40mph speed limit road.
Before anyone flames me, want to make it clear that my intention was not to race it just happened that he pushed me and as an instinct I ended up taking him on. If I did not have to turn I might have not taken him on at all.
Anyway, after my right turn I just went slowly per the posted speed of 40mph and within a couple of seconds I hear a jag whiz pass by me around 60mph. I guess he was not too happy with the result and knowing that put smirk on my face. He got what he deserved.
I know someone will ask which S-type? I am not sure but only thing i can say is it was a year or 2 old and could be either 3.0 or 4.2. Although I doubt it was 4.2 because I had somewhat of any easy race.
