This is why I avoided black or graphite leather, it show creases. My G is therefore stone not charcoal. My previous car, the Altima had black and the driver's seat which was obviously used everyday showed creases but the passenger side was like new after 3 years. I had a Camry before that and went with tan leather that never aged a day in three years. My brother-in-lay just bought a 2002 Acura TL with black and it shows crease marks, even though you can tell the leather quality is top shelf.
I think creasing is normal in leather seats. It may relate to how tight the leather is drawn over the stuffing (or, from the other perspective, how much stuffing there is) and from how much use it is given-ie the number of times it is used, how long it is sat in and how much "butt movement" there is during a ride. Sunlight exposure and color (related to the dyes used as well as the propensity of darker colors to absorb more heat) may also play a role.
I'm not sure how much of the seat is actually leather even after reading threads here over the last 8 months. I suspect that the only leather is the perforated "seating surface" although it is possible the seat bottom bolsters are also leather. An answer from a person with real knowledge would be appreciated by many of us. Is this information in the shop manual?
Thanks.

The day I bought my G one of the detailing guys accidentally slashed the drivers seat (butt area) with a razor. What he was doing with a razor, I have no clue. Anyway, you could see that the leather was paper thin. It didn't even look like leather to be honest. It looked like some type of leather imitation. My dad took a look at it and denounced it as vinyl. So I agree, the leather is not the greatest.

I treat my leather seats every two weeks and yeah there are creases... guess there is no way to avoid it, or lexoling/zainoing/connolleing would have avoided it.. I weigh 170lbs btw so Im not at all heavy.
Hey ABQ_G35
I dont quite like the tone of ur reply and what do you mean by deal with it -- ure talking as if i bought the car from you.
This is a forum where one is suppose to express their concerns and to reteriate yes the leather quality sucks for a 33-34K car -- check out the leather that comes with a BMW/lexus, u'll be amazed with the quality.
Anyways i am having the dealer look at it and will let u know guys what they come up with.
Thanks for the replies guys

I know what you're talking about, but I wouldn't sweat it. The reason why the leather looks so nice when you purchase it is because it hasn't been sat in yet. Seriously, the next time you're out, take a peek inside some of the upscale cars. Mercedes, Porsche, BMW, Jaguar, etc. I guarantee you'll see cracks on those leather seats as well.
If you clean & condition your seats a few times each year, avoid eating in your car, and keep the seams vacuumed and free of debris, your leather will last a lifetime. I have a 2001 Nissan Maxima with (unperforated) leather. It's nowhere near the quality of the leather found in our G35's, but it still looks great because I've taken good care of it. I was in my old Maxima today (now my wife's car) and was amazed at how good the interior looks. I'm telling you, if you don't eat in your car it makes all the difference in the world. Condition those seats, keep it vacuumed, and change the floor mats at 50K miles. She'll look like new again.

Yep, what he said. Remember, leather is skin. It needs moisturizers to stay supple and healthy. Tint your windows with a UV blocking tint too. Too much sun and not enough moisturizers make wrinkles on seats and faces too.

I agree, the leather quality is not the best IMO. Our G has creases in the drivers seat at 5k/9 mos. of ownership. I condition it regularly so hopefully it won't get much worse. It doesn't really bother me much.
My beef is that the leather interior doesn't have that rich leather smell that you get in most european marques.

I kind of like the creases. I give caricature to the seat. I also like the creases in a face. They tell a story. They tell a lot.
I can look at anyone and tell if they smoke or not. Even in there twenties. You can tell by the lines and the elasticity of the facial skin. You must keep skin moist, the same with the leather seats. Keep them clean, and contrition them regularly.

My last car was a Mustang GT with leather (and I say that loosely) the only thing that was leather, was the seating surface, front seats only, the back seat was all vinyl, as were the sides of the front seats, and those areas had no creases whatsoever after 3 years, the seating surfaces had many creases!
