Problems all the cars share...

- Susceptible to expensive damage from impacts with other cars and objects.
- Frequent encounters with law enforcement officers may be expensive and time consuming.
- Friends and family may complain from being thrown against windows and doors during transitional maneuvers.
- Attracts interest of drivers of lesser cars that need a learning.
- Hours of life lost in needless worry about parking in a safe spot or maintaining a meticulous level of appearance.
- Smug knowledge that you've saved thousands of $'s by resisting the urge to buy the new BMW 3 series may be a turnoff to some.
- Hours of life wasted online and reading car mags to reassure yourself that the car you bought is as good as the new 3 series.
- Crappy OEM tires. (Whoa, this is sounding real.)
- Crappy Clarion head unit with non-scrolling XM radio integration.
- Easily scratched real (and artificial) aluminum interior trim.
- Poorly lit clock.
- Inadequate trailer hitch and roof rack solutions.
- When seen from rear 03/04 sedans might be confused for (swallowing hard) new Toyota Avalon.
- Squeaks and rattles.

I've probably missed a few. But that sums up the issues I think we all face.

These don't apply to the '05, the aluminum is real, not the painted look titanium of the previous models. Crappy OEM tires..............?

Quote: My only complaint is the some squeaks, ghey gas milage, inability to stay under 55mph, 100 mph seems pretty good for the g35x, and havin to clean my chromies every few days from the brake dust.. other then that I love my beautiful car <3!!

And i think its bad to say that i already have 2,300 miles on my car n its almost 2 mnths old >_O!!! DAMN BF!
I don't know if I believe this, I have an '05, and get almost zero brake dust!

05 Automatic. 2500 miles. No brake dust either. However, my brakes did start Squeaking today. I have to take it in so I will have them look at it.

Quote: I recently bought a 2005 g35x and would like to know some of the common problems all of these cars share. I noticed the rotors should be a bit bigger, will they wear out quicker than most cars?
Nothing inherent in the G other than poor(er) gas mileage than we'd like.
The ride is difficult to drive at legal speed limits due to fun factor, and in general is very addictive.

Welcome, enjoy your G, and be wary of unwanted attention by the 'man'.

C.

P.S.- the brakes on our rides are some of the best stoppers on the market. Don't sweat the rotor size.

Is the unfriendly oil dipstick a pre-05 thing? The one on my 05 is not difficult to take out or put back in.

I also do not have any brake dust problems in my 05 but I have not logged too many miles yet.

What I do have, is the rear windows creaking on bumps and during turns.

Oh yeah, I also have the speed limit problem and it's just getting worse the more I drive it.

The dipstick is the same on my '05 as it was on my '04. The brake dust issue on my '04 showed up immediately!

How much dust are you seeing? I don't know if you have seen previous models, '03-'04, but they were like coal black, little piles of dust on the inside of the wheels too. LOL, I used to use a Swiffer Duster on my '04, after driving it for a few days after a wash!

I think that the odometer may be a bit off; it accrues miles more quickly then any other vehicle I've owned

Heh. Try 10k on our 04 that we got on March 29th, and 6500 on my 05 that is 8 weeks old.
