How did you handle your break-in period...

Bottom line, less damage, less warranty cost to repair it.

Yeah, the tough part is when some jacka$$ in a Honda won't let you merge into traffic (just happened to me during lunch). The teenage in me wanted to stomp it and show him what she could do. However, the more "adult" version of me decided to just hit the brakes and then blast by him in the 4K range after I merged. The exhaust on the G may even sound better than my old GT Mustang...and it doesn't rattle over every bump.

I didn't pass 4K until about 1000 miles (a few times to 4500). Than slowly started going up to 5K than after 1200 went 6K. Driving about 80 miles a day, I knew break-in would only be like a month or so, so it wasn't that long of a wait

I currently have 800 miles on my G and so far I have only taken it over 4000 rpms once. During my normal driving though I don't really accelerate that fast from a stop as it usually isnt necessary. I do take the car out for some nice drives and when I do I usually accelerate to 4000 rpms and then just back off the acceleration. I think I am going to stop this break in process at 1000 miles because I have my Z tube just sitting here waiting to get installed. I havent installed it yet as I want to hear the difference between WOT with it on and just the stock intake. So far the break in has been painful as I want to let loose, but it is only for a short amount of time.
Drive "nicely" for 750 ~ 1000 miles, kick it up a notch to 2500, then ***** out s ok.
Switch to synthetic at 25,000. Change every 5000 mi. It (the engine) then will last 300k mi. Everything else will go before the engine.

I picked up my G with 16 miles, and did NOT break 4K until 1,200 miles. I didn't see the risk in following the manufactures instructions, even if unecessary.
I also spend the next 100 miles limited to 5K, after 1,300 until today (1,500) I have spent ALOT of time between 4K and 6K when I can find enough "runway" to do so
I don't think my car will be any slower over the long haul by doing what infiniti advised. I also am not convinced that those who beat there cars from day one did anything wrong.
I was PAINFUL to "drive miss daisy" for 1,200 miles but it is a personal decision.
