Picking up my G35MT soon! Advice needed!

I think what he means is 2nd gear is fine for 5-15 mph, and won't snap your neck everytime you hit the gas and then let off, right?

When I test drove the TL, the salesman had to drive the car off the lot for insurance purposes, and he kept it in first gear up to like 15mph in stop and go, I think my neck still hurts!

Riding the clutch... when you keep your foot resting on the clutch pedal, the clutch isn't fully engaged, and you'll wear it out faster. Once you're in gear, move your left foot off the clutch and onto the dead pedal (the footrest to the far left).

Thanks for the words of wisdom guys. Well, I did it, I signed my life away tonight, I picked up the G!!! Man, I feel dumb saying this but I felt giddy with a big old grin on my face as the salesman was walking me through everything. I mean I can't even drive the thing yet, but just the thought of how nice this car really is, got me excited. I can't wait to start to learn! Hopefully I will able to enjoy driving my G very soon!

Well guys I have been driving my G for a couple weeks now. I will say most of the first week I got frustrated, I guess I expected driving stick would be easier. Then one day realized how tense I was when driving. So I told myself just to relax and since then I have been doing much better.

In reguards to bythabay's quote above, I have noticed a bit of engine knock in certain situations. For instance when shifting from 2nd to 3rd. So this is happening because the engine is not revving fast enough?

It seems to be that my shifts from 1st into 2nd are not as smooth as others because the RPM's drop so fast when I push the clutch in. I have tried to let let the clutch out faster, but the shift still is not very smooth. I guess I am letting the clutch out too fast then. Any tips for this?

Also what RPM are you guys revving to when starting out in 1st gear?

Normal stoplight? Around 1800 RPM...a little higher starting uphill. If I'm feeling froggy, I'll launch at 2500-3000. Parking lots or traffic where I'm just creeping around, about 1000. Everyone is going to be a little different on this. Depending on how quickly they like to get moving.
