My head unit was replaced by dealer today and so far so good. I posted this thread https://g35driver.com/forums/g35-sedan-v35-2003-06/53187-infiniti-dealers-all-ripoffs.html a couple of weeks ago and as you can see, there was a bit of anger there. I can now play my cd's and enjoy them. While there, I asked the service manager if there would be any problem with the warranty if I replaced the stock speakers and the head unit went bad again. He said "We would not have a problem, but other Infiniti dealers in the tri state area would not honor the warranty on the HU if you changed the speakers". He also said "If I were to ever add an amplifier, the HU warranty would become void and no Infiniti dealer would honor it".
