Autocross advice

I plan on attending an SCCA Solo II event locally this Sunday. I'll be running a bone-stock 04 5AT Sedan. I plan on getting out to a parking lot sometime before then to practice launching. But... can anybody recommend tire pressures? I've got the 17" Bridgestone Turanza's (EL42). Also, does anyone recommend running in automatic rather than manumatic? I assume that I'll rarely need to go beyond second gear, and I don't want the tranny shifting early and losing rpm's, so I'm planning on going the manumatic route.

Also, the really funny part is, my wife has decided to register also; she vows that she's a better driver and swears she'll have better times in the same car.

Recommendations?

Depending on the size of course and speed, I always put it in 2nd gear for a automatic. So in your Manual put it in 2nd to it allows it to shift from 1st to 2nd. Turn VDC off. On a small autox course VDC actually gets in the way, but on a road-race type of course it can be very helpful. Remember, smoother through the turns the better. Do a good apex angle and if your tires are starting to squeal or slipping means your pushing to hard so let off a little. You can do faster times the smoother you are not the faster you are.

Shifting down to 1st can slow you down its just better sometimes to just leave it in 2nd and let it accelerate slower.
