soot in tailpipe.......

noticed there's more black soot in other g35 sedans tailpipe when compared to mine........i know my bolt-ons obviously have something to do with that, so my question is, am I running more effeciently because there's less black soot on taipipe? or even a little lean? hope i'm making sense to someone......

Intake and plenum spacer may make you run slightly lean.

No soot on mine either (stock), guess that blows the bolt-on theory.

Shows that the ride isn't 'grannied' at all, as well as not run for short distances.

I abuse my car so much that I leave a TRAIL of soot wherever I go, it just pours out of there.

The pistons won't fit thru the exhaust pipe, so I know I have all of those left at least

I flogged the $hit out of my old Maxima and didn't have soot on the tail pipe. How does that fit with the granny theory?

Soot is a byproduct of combustion, it's normal. Some cars produce more. Excessive soot (sprayed all over the back bumper) is obviously the result of running way too rich.

I wouldn't be too concerned. Bolt-ons alone don't really screw up the AF ratio that much.

Hey guys,
I have a '04 G35 coupe.
I recently noticed that the left tailpipe is a bit lower than the right one.
Any ideas how to align it with the right tailpipe??

Appreciate your help!!!
