Car on the lot for a few months...is it bad?

Car on the lot for a few months...is it bad?
I am very close to purchasing my G35S 5AT. I have been faxed the paperwork on the vehicle. I noticed that on one of the papers the date is 01/03. I am not sure whether the car was built in January or if it was ordered in January. I was wondering is it bad for a car to have been sitting on the lot for this long. Is there anything you have to make sure you do since it has been "stagnate" for a few months? Or will it be okay?

Not necesarily bad for the car... but could be good for you. Anytime a car sits in dealer inventory, it costs the dealer money each day it's there, I believe that's what the dealer holdback (from the manufacturer) is for, to help offset these costs. The longer a car sits there, the more likely is a dealer willing to negotiate on price, usually.
Since you haven't purchased yet, make sure you do your research to get the best price. There's a wide variation in pricing, in some markets, auto sedans are going close to invoice, while in others closer to MSRP. A little research can literally save you $2000-$3000.... and that's a fact!
Good luck... and let us know how you made out.

It's not a bad car just because it sits on the lot. It may just have some odd option package that nobody else wants. The dealer may be willing to come down on the price, as they're starting to feel the burn of making payments on it themselves -- they don't like to keep cars more than 3 months at most. Your new car warranty starts on the date of purchase, not on the date the car gets to the dealer, so no worries there.
You may want to check the mileage, though. If it's under 10, nobody's driven the car. If it's a little more, no big deal. More than that, and it's been on a couple of test drives. Over a hundred miles or two, and it's been test driven quite a bit... enough, in my opinion, for a little more off the sticker price.

Re: Car on the lot for a few months...is it bad?
Check the battery! I bought a new 2000 Maxima that had been on the
lot for awhile. The intent was to drive the new Maxima on our upcoming
vacation. Well..... The Friday night before the long drive, the car failed
to start! Went to the dealership after the service department closed
and bitterly complained, my 1 week old $26,000 car was belly up.
One of the smart employees deduced the battery was dead and
swapped it with one laying around. Got us off on our vacation.
The dealership decided from that point on they would start every
car on the lot every day. Be forewarned!
