i was on the 60freeway minding my own business heading home when i saw a mildly modified white subuaru impreza wrx closing in on me on my rear view mirror.. i was assuming he would pass me, but he slowed down and was cruising next to me.. i knew he wanted to race...we both slowed down to 60mph and floored it. even though i knew that the wrx puts up faster time on both 0-60 and 1/4mile, i thought i would have the edge.. after all i have a bigger displacment engine. but to my surprise we were neck to neck until 100mph, to top that off, he was just about few inches ahead of me!! unfortunately there was traffic ahead of us so we both slowed down. i guess i lost, but it was no biggie because it was just matter of inches.

yep.. ive had my share of encounters with WRXes... actually not many.. just the same one on the freeway a few times.. dunnoi ts mods... but it is faster than my G..

 

i have raced one and they are pretty fast....

 

I beat one at NE Dragway that was mildly modified with my Wife's 02 Maxima...I ran a 14.6 at 95 that run and he flew by me at the end...he actually got yelled at for not slowing down...later on his friends came over and asked to see what was under the hood...I told them it was all stock except for a CAI and they laughed...I guess the kid was so pissed a Maxima beat him that he wouldn't even come over...any other time I have raced one I have been able to stay ahead, but all of this was with the SE...the G35 has killed 2 Type S TLs and one 325 CI BMW though so far.

Is the engine in the G/Z maxed out? Or can we get a lot more power without turbos or sc's???

There is more but we need to get intake and exhaust to get started. ECUs are now out there as well.New plenums like the Crawford one offer new angles on power. Its a wait and see thing at this point. We are not "stuck" with what we have[img]/w3timages/icons/smile.gif[/img]

can somone explain to me the Crawford and the new angles of power? I went to the website in the other thread about Crawford and couldent find anything :/

 

They cut the back of the plenum off and weld and new higher and smoother piece in its place. By the back I mean closest to the radiator. Looks like $hit but it works. I want to know the smog problems/CARB cert for this up grade.

Keep in mind that the race started at 60mph. G35 might be able to beat it on a 0-60, but with the turbo, the wrx has the advantage at high speeds i think. My good friend and I both bought our new cars at the same time. I got my g35s, and he got his wrx. When he drove mine he noticed how much juice it had off the start, and was like "Wow.. linear acceleration is nice.. "

You are dead on...the extra torque we have helps off the line but above 4000 rpms the WRX (not the auto ones) really come alive...and the STI is a monster...along with the EVO, but those cars are no where near ours inside...my wife and I test drove an 02 WRX b/f she got her Max and it was nothing inside and boring as hell in auto form. The manuals are incredible bang for the buck cars.
