G35 Sedan V35 2003-06 Discussion about the 1st Generation V35 G35 Sedan

Is it me, or do the 05' G35's not really pull when going WOT above 70mph?

Motors with fat powerbands and flat torque curves don't feel as fast as a peaky motors with short powerbands and torque curves that actually have curves. Case in point, the LS1 in the F-Body. Back in 1999, my friend picked up a 1999 Z28 with the 305hp LS1. I had a 94 Z28 LT1 with a handful of bolt-ons. By the seat of the pants, my LT1 felt worlds faster and he agreed. The LT1 snapped your neck and threw you in the seat. At the time, we didn't know what whp our cars were making. Then the truth was revealed on the dyno and at the track. My LT1 made ~285whp@5100rpms with the power falling off like a brick after 5200rpms and was only making 200whp at the 5800rpm fuel cut. His LS1 made 300whp@5600rpms and held yo 80% of that power to the 6200rpm redline. Overall, his car had a crapload more power under the curve. The power delivery was so linear at all rpms and speeds, the true acceleration force was hard to detect because at speeds over 60mph, the acceleration g's fall off quite a bit. His car ran 13.4s@105mph. Mine ran 13.8s@101mph. The trap speed alone tells the whole story.

My 96 Maxima 5 speed that ran a best of a 14.3@99mph with a high 2.1 60' felt a lot quicker than my G35 5AT. When I took my G to the track it ran a 14.4@98mph with a low 2.2 60'. How did my butt dyno get tricked? My G has quite a bit more torque, isn't remotely as loud, and it doesn't have the manual shift rocking. A low 2.2 60' in the G feels a hell of a lot slower than the high 2.1s my Maxima pulled on occassion.

Take it to the track. Seat of the pants means nothing

Jeff, I thought Bobby was the g35driver Guru, but you take the hat with your last post. What size shoe is that hanging out of your cocky mouth?

I assume you have the silver M3 right? Don't you miss the M3 boards when reading some of these posts? If you are ever in LA I will give you a ride in my M. It still scares me every time I rev out 2nd gear (this is with my car de-tuned because it was making too much power).

Post your dyno chart and let's see why you don't think it feels fast. Perhaps this ECU program isn't set up correctly for YOUR specific car.

Check your info before trying to correct someone please.

The 6mt of sedan and coupe both come with 298 hp.

Let me add something else: the car isn't going to accelerate as fast at 70 as it does at 30...this is just common sense.

BTW what kind of info can you give me on this ECU program thing? Was it custom programmed for your vehicle on a dyno? If not, it was a waste of your money.

Case in point: my other car, an Acura Integra GS-R, made 140 whp stock. The right header, cat converter and exhaust (correctly sized and packaged for my goals) when bolted on gave me 8whp. However, after dyno tuning with a V-AFC2, cam gears, and an adjustable fuel pressure regulator, I was making 19whp more. That's right, I gained 11whp just from dyno tuning.

The 2005 6 speed sedan is rated at 298...the AT at 280.

Don't like it? Sell your car and get a Sti or new M3, and get off the forum while you are at it

Ok, just because I question 1 characteristic of the G-35 doesn't mean I don't like the car. Actually I LOVE IT! My GF and I drove one to Vegas and bought one the day we got back. The 05's are one of the best bangs for the buck period.

With so many worthless posts like yours I will not find it hard to keep my distance from these forums. Gee, this is what I get when I ask for feedback about the G35's high speed characteristics. BTW maybe you should learn how to read like your buddies Jeffjett & Bobby6123 and realize that I don't need to buy a new M3 when I already drive one making well over 600hp. I understand all the insecure haters attacking me, but at least do your homework before acting like an a$$.

Theg35guy...the software on the G-35 is from Technosquare. They are using my G-35 sedan as a test car for 05 software. So for anyone that wants to insist on me not owning the car, why don't you give them a call. BTW the software is the best performance mod so far.

Well if it is a beta-test car or whatever you want to call it, this might be why your results aren't quite what you had expected. Give them time and let them work out the kinks. Hopefully they've written the program specifically for your car and your car's modifications. Generic one-size-fits-all programs don't work.

Just because it doesn't "feel fast" doesn't mean it really is. I've driven some pretty wicked fast cars that can feel quite slow...until you realize you're doing twice the legal speed limit.

BTW please furnish a dyno chart if you can, it will really help illustrate your point better since the feel of the acceleration is different for every person.

The sedan does come with the 298 horses but only if you get the 6mt.
