Used 2003.5 G35S 6MT value
Hi,
Anyone know how much does a 2003.5 G35S 6MT with 2500 miles worth?
I owned one for 3 weeks and has rattles and squeaks and consider selling it. My wife is getting on my case as I wanted the G35 and she wanted BMW.
Anyone insterested in a "used" Black G35s 6MT full loaded in Souther CA? I had already take the depreciation hit for you. I even got extended warranty which is trasferable. As you see a post I posted about squeaky G35 It only has one minor squeak and one subwoffer rattle which with patient the dealer should fix all of it.
Thanks

2 minor squeaks as you put it is not enough reason to listen to your wife and get a BMW. She must be REALLY NAGGING you.
Not for nothing, but if it is was me she would have to keep quite. What makes her think that the BMW will be any better?
Hey it's your money and you have to live with her, so who am I to speak out. She doesn't happen to earn more money than you, does she.
I am not trying to be a "D" but 2 squeaks and she wants to trade.

Hey Gster, there are TSB's out for the rattles, you can get them repaired for FREE at your local dealership, you will also get a FREE loaner car if the repair is expected to take longer than an hour.
Maybe your wife doesnt like the 6spd and wants an automatic transmission???

Re: Used 2003.5 G35S 6MT value
that's if the dealer can fix them.
I'm in the same boat as Gster. Too many rattles and noises and problems. My dealer is 1/5 in 5 attempts. I've stopped trying. I'm waiting for the new Lexus GS to come out this fall/winter. I just hope the new owner for my G can get rid of the:
1. pull to the right
2. window regulator creaking
3. cowl rattle
4. dashboard/steering column rattle.
5. rocking seat
6. etc.
I took the door panels off myself and wrapped the door handle and lock cables to get rid of the buzzing. I'm not a genius but even I could see how those might cause some noise. I wonder why the techs couldn't?
Besides the problems, the interaction is adversarial. "We aren't going to look at it even though there is a TSB issued because we couldn't replicate." (Translation: Infiniti doesn't want to pay for all of the warranty work as a result of rushing this car out into production before proper R&D so we're going to make it harder for you to get this work done.) It's worked on me. Like I've said, I've stopped taking it in because nothing ever gets fixed or they "can't replicate." It seems like it's an us v. them instead of the owner and the dealer working together to fix the problems.
In all fairness, I think my previous experiences with Lexus spoiled me permanently and they'll get rewarded with my future business.

I scheduled appointment already to get the rattle fix, hope I can replicate the problem.
No, my wife make less money, but talk more
, and she like the 330i.
I know that by getting BMW doesn't mean it's going to be rattle free, so I'm hoping the dealer can fix it.

Re: Used 2003.5 G35S 6MT value
I can see Lexus perhaps being more rattle-proof, as they corner the "luxury/tight fit" market, and Infiniti takes over when it comes to the "fun drive/hear the engine" market, but the BMW is by no means going to be any less prone to rattle. Make sure she knows that Bimmers spend more time in the shop than any Japanese car ever will... when the cars are 90% machine made, the accuracy is amazing, but when they're made by The Drunken Bavarian 1.0, they tend to rattle and not be as consistantly precise. This isn't wholly opinion, as it's based on A) Our experience with 4 BMWs B) Our friend who's worked R&D for BMW for 12yrs in Germany, C) Multiple GE consulting reports on both Japanese and European automanufacturers. Now, if your wife has a logical argument, send it in... if she would like a good-looking badge on her car... that's a whole different story.

Re: Used 2003.5 G35S 6MT value
I assume that since you have a sedan and not the coupe, that you have need for a back seat on occasion. I currently have a BMW 3 series, and although it's rattle and squeak free with 28,000 miles, even my 10 year old has got insufficient legroom in the back. You will need to buy a 5 series Bimmer to get the same kind of interior room as the G. The NEXT BMW 3 series is supposed to add more rear room, but the current one has NONE! And don't think a C class Benz is any better....while they have a bit more leg room, any adult sitting in the back will find their feet stuck under the front seat and unable to get out of the car without extreme difficulty. A Passat or A4 are much better for rear seat passengers (still not as comfortable as a G, but better). But they are both quite slow. So unless you have 50 large for a 540 or A6 2.7 turbo or 4.2 or E430, what else is there? (The G!)

Re: Used 2003.5 G35S 6MT value
My very first near-luxury car was a ’99 BMW 328i got it the first month it came out and that thing was in the shop at least once every two weeks or so with defects and other dumb things going wrong. Granted it was a first year model but I’ve had ALOT less problems with my first model year G35C. If I ever do buy another BMW, it sure as hell won’t be a 3-series!
