I'm not sure if Canadian pricing matches up but I just picked up a 2003.5 sedan with 31,000 miles loaded with aero for $30,100 CAD, which is $24,100 or so USD.

Ya depends on the year, but TSX's are selling for a premium right now. Assuming it was an '04 TSX with 40K he should have gotten a better deal on the trade in. Conservative Blue book trade in on an '04 TSX with 40k is 19k, considering the price of the G he should have gotten a better deal imo. Anyway, if he is happy then that's good - but I think he could have done better.

Sound like a fair trade in price. had he waited and sold it himself he may have gotten close to $22k and in the meantime saved up to buy a new or newer G. Hard to say how the deal went. Don't know how much he owed, if there was equity in the TSX.

Sound OK though.

I always go by NADA value when dealing cars. NADA is what the banks use. Dealerships will try and trick you with Kelley Blue Book which is a dealer-supported appraisal company.

NADA trade-in value on a 04 TSX with no navi is ~$21,600.

NADA retail value on a mostly loaded 03 G35 sedan is ~27,300.

It appears your brother may have paid about $1,500 too high in the transaction. I don't know what the used car market is like for a G sedan down in FL, though. I'm certain that dealership will be listing that TSX for $25K and will probably get at least 23K for it or about $4000 in profit.

The cost of the G seems a little high, but it's offset by the decent price he got for the Acura. Why an '03?... for slightly more he probably could have got an '04 - but then he probably wouldn’ t have got 18.8 for the TSX... whatever, is he happy?

Is he happy? Does the car look and run well? Does he miss his TSX?

If the answers are yes, yes, and no, then he got a good deal.

I just paid $23,300 for an 03.5 premium with 24k miles. It's in great shape!
